Damn, he did some exciting things back in the early days. Back in the day, expansion teams like the Seahawks didn't get a lot of help from the league. I don't begrudge him not being able to pile up a bunch of wins, but his teams really were fun to watch most of the time.

RIP

:(

It's only been about 5 1/2 months since Chuck Knox passed on May 13, 2018. I wish Chuck could have witnessed the Detroit game of this 2018 team. He would have loved it.

Paul Allen, Chuck Knox, and now Jack Patera. Rough year.

Rough year indeed. RIP Coach Patera. From what I remember, you made it easy to love that expansion team in my hometown.

Patera wasn't the first coach to call a fake FG, but he was the first coach to call a fake FG that passed the ball to the kicker.

Patera was the first coach who could send the kicker out as a decoy on a fake FG.

Every time the Seahawks run some kind of fake from the kicking game I fondly remember Pateras teams and Efren Herrera. RIP Coach Patera.

My mental image is of him in dark pants white polo shirt just yelling at someone almost a Jackie Gleason type profile. He got us to 9-7 orv3rd year which was unheard of. Heck we were the first two expansion teams in my lifetime up until then.

Plus that Efren Herrera onside kick on MNF was pretty cool. That was Howard Cossell and Dandy Don Merideth days.

Those were some goofy days from a playing perspective and perhaps we've never had more silly fun watching the Seahawks as we did back then.

Then the franchise got better and the fun came in the form of winning expectations which overall is better, but will always remember those early days with the fondness of a young, wide-eyed kid who got a chance to watch NFL football up close.

Jim Zorn was and remains a class act.

Yep, this team has lost a lot of good ones in 2018.
As a 7 year old kid, I loved coach Patera as he was the coach of my team.
RIP Coach Patera. :(

He is with Coach Knox and Paul Allen now, thats some pretty good company right there.
