From this angle?

I'm still in NOLA, stayed an extra day. In spite of the game outcome, we've had a BLAST.

I haven't had much time to catch up on all of the topics but I don't think this has been posted yet.

I did see a post or two talking about the pylon being part of the field but I'd say this photo, from this angle, takes the pylon out of the equation.

Right foot is in front.
Left foot is trailing.

Duh.
Blue pants.

Well to my own defense.
I have had way to much ETOH the past few days.

I'll leave this in place, so I can get the well deserved .....

One could still argue he was on the line if you chose to, but it looks in bounds, it was a hell of an effort.

Did they even review that play to see if it was in bounds, I don't think they did and it should have been.

It does make all the Wilson and Bevell as well as Kearse threads since Sunday kind of embarrassing now over that play since Kearse appears to have executed his part.

They didn't need to review it. His second foot came down way out of bounds

RW could have thrown a better ball, good chance Kearse could have won against that DB in an even contest.

His first foot is in. His second foot hit the pylon, which apparently does not make it IB (okay) but: ~If~ it was determined that he was OB through contact, despite catching it IB, is there any potential issue around that? Or, is a defender permitted to knock a guy who caught the ball IB, OB for an incompletion?

There used to be a push out rule in the NFL, where the receiver would get the benefit of where he would have landed in bounds had he not been pushed/carried. They got rid of that rule a while ago, though.

Thanks

The first time I saw that Image I was wondering how the heck he got his second leg down so fast when all I could remember is one leg being 4 or 5 feet in the air.... Thought I was going crazy... I'm glad I read this thread, probably saved me the awkward moment of insisting Kears was in bounds to someone.

It actually hit the pylon first, which is still unfortunately out of bounds.

I watched it back right as the game ended. Left foot looked in and right hit the pylon but not before his left hand hit out of bounds as he braced for the fall. Hell of an effort tho...just wish we would've given Graham a shot over the middle.

If Russell threw it a yard shorter, Kearse could've made a play on it. So close

Replace Jimmy Graham with Kearse and we would have won and also Graham would have eaten the defender for lunch afterwards. Literally.
