Salary cap always goes up...Wilson getting 50million 3rd year into his contract will be bargain. Just like now, he is making 35million which 8th best in the NFL. Just 2 million more then Goff, Wentz, & Cousins.

The exact opposite happened. More money went to the marginal players, who had the most votes. Guys that are number 40 to 53 on rosters voted for it. More games and more practice squad spots.
All you have to be is look at what the NFL's minimum pay figure has been each year since 2010. The figure increased by set amounts but on average it worked out to 3%. The NFL salary cap increased by around 7% and owners were forced to spend it. Not hard to figure out where the money could and couldn't go.

Wilson is due to earn $24M this season. He is due to earn $27M next season plus a 2023 target-based salary escalator that stands at $1M before 2022 performances.
