There’s probably only 4 QBs I’d want to give that contract to and every single one of them are in their athletic prime, have yet to reach their quarterback prime, and all are 26 years old or younger.

My hot take was saying he was never going to sign with Denver after this deal was done.

He’s gonna get that money, and it’ll be from Denver.

I’m glad we moved on, but I’m not gonna hate on another man getting his chips. Personally I wouldn’t pay him that, but that doesn’t mean anything I’m a healthcare worker making life decisions about any financial situation.

Whenever some star player says when trying to fend off rumors about them staying or leaving, and they say "All I care about is winning," you can bet your sweet behind it's all about the money. Always. And the idea that you're going to handcuff your team by demanding the largest contract possible. That's a chump move. So glad he's gone.

^I mean yeah go get your money but if Wilson really wanted to win like Tom Brady and cared about all that legacy BS he talked about when he was younger, he’d take at least a cut. Brady has never once in being the GOAT was paid top market QB money and it’s a decent chunk to the formula of why his teams been to what 10 Super Bowls plus 4 more championship appearances.

I find it hilarious that people who don’t have the talent required for professional sports feel it’s their place to put limits on what said professionals can earn. In no circumstance are these athletes playing for you. They are playing to max their earnings in the short time they can hold onto the skills required.

And it’s not just the star QB, let’s ask DK to take a discount or maybe get Wags at a home town friendly deal(wait he already said no to that). My point is why would the best player on the team give away money when players that are less than aren’t willing to give some back.

I posted in the other thread that top 5 QB’s would probably be getting over 100mil a year if the league didn’t artificially limit salary. NFL teams are worth billions and rising….

Bottom line…players are worth whatever they scan sign for.

And miss me with that Brady b.s. I believe the patriots funneled money to him through his tb12 hustle. And I have no doubts he is getting his scratch from the Bucs also.

And of course it also doesn't hurt that his wife is rich. Switching teams is also a really good strategy for a veteran QB who has been pushing dead cap into the future because the dead cap stays with the old team while they get a fresh start. Other QBs are paying attention and this will become more common over time.

This is how I feel about it too. Players have the right to chase paychecks just like everybody else, but they also shouldn't earn any special merit from the fanbase when their goal is largely personal.

I will be super annoyed if he does give the Broncos a hometown discount. Based o what happened in Seattle I will also be very surprised if it happens

No, by demanding the LION'S SHARE of the CAP, he was playing for my Hamstrung Seahawks diminishing their ability to pay for better talent, TO HELP HIM WIN.
INTELLIGENT Players like Tom Brady understands what it takes to succeed, >>TEAMWISE<<, & unless you have PROOF, and can offer up something better than a lame claim about "funneled money", you're spitting into the wind.

He wasn’t asking for the “lions share” he was looking for max the market would pay for his extremely rare set of skills. Just like every single player on your “hamstrung” Hawks he was looking to maximize his earnings in the limited time he has(maybe every player on the team should give back a couple mil). My only proof is the public knowledge that the N.E. Patriots employed his TB12 firm…unless you’re telling me his firm did the work for free. Considering Brady and the patriots have several cheating scandals under their belt it’s not a huge leap. I did preface my comment with “I believe” if you don’t good for you.

And again I will say, none of these athletes are playing for your happiness…they all play to make as much money as they can.

Players should fight for what they can get. The last 2 CBAs were designed to funnel money away from the bottom earners and towards the stars. Wilson will ask for $XXX and the Broncos will decide whether to pay him or pay someone else. The Seahawks will have other players who want to be paid.

The league is full of Jackasses then. Being the next guy up asking for the huge contract is nothing new. He's gone, it's done with.

Well, you got One thing correct... Wilson ain't playing for my "Happiness".
I am a Seattle Seahawks Fan FIRST, not a Seattle Wilson's Fan FIRST.
Fact is, Pete spent 10 years ACCOMIDATING, & going out of his way TO HELP Russell Wilson SUCCEED, it was WILSON who QUIT for more notoriety & MONEY.

Other players INCLUDING the Bottom Earners that do a lot of the dirty work, & want to be paid >>FAIRLY<<, yes.

The exact opposite happened. More money went to the marginal players, who had the most votes. Guys that are number 40 to 53 on rosters voted for it. More games and more practice squad spots.

Not sure if it was the camera angle or he was wearing some sort of padding in front of his tummy, Russ looked quite rounded on these pics:
