Harvin is the expensive sports car.
And like an expensive sports car, he isn't dependable.
It is always in the shop or the garage or needing or part or whatever. He is flashy and fast, but utterly undependable and a complete luxury at a time we need a few necessities. I have believed that he was going to make a big difference one way or the other once he got back because I never have believed he was going to play enough to make that difference.
Then again, if he can manage to keep from breaking down in the playoffs maybe he puts us over the top but that is only if he can last long enough.
In a choice between Tate or Harvin, I would pick Tate. Tate at least wins games for us. Harvin just doesn't have the durability or the fortitude to be the difference maker even though he has the physical ability and skills. At least we are finding this out now before we stupidly put all our eggs in one basket and get rid of someone like Tate or Baldwin.
I really want to be proven wrong because I have been annoyed with this signing from Day 1, considering the cost. At this point, if he can be the difference maker in a playoff game then I would be happy to be wrong. It only takes one game to end a season in the playoffs. But if not, he was a total and complete waste of time, money and apparently a draft pick.
