Mariners are incapable of stringing hits together. Homer or bust = bust
I've been saying this for 20 years but no one listens. This is why i say last year was a fluke and we are worse this year. We need people who can hit for on base. You hit 4 homeruns and score 4 runs is losing baseball. You are saying your pitching has to be perfect every night. Not only won't it but it can't over a 162 game season.

I know it's 1 game but I see the same team we've seen for more than 2 decades. I never bought into this we are going to be better than last year idea. I hope I am wrong.

P.S. I really feel for that make-a-wish kid

Down the stretch last night the the at bats were underwhelming. Three pitches, three swings.

The Guardians wore down our relievers. We left theirs fresh as a daisy.

They lost a close game to a good team that won their division last season, largely due to really good pitching.

Cal, Julio, and Naylor went 0 for 11, which I very much doubt we're going to see most games.

I wasn't a big fan of bringing in Legumina in the 8th and then Criswell in the 9th in a 1 run game, but we didn't end up scoring in those innings anyway, those 2 are our only guys that got "worn down", and they're 2 of our worst relievers. Everyone else is still fresh as a daisy.

6 hits to 14 strikeouts is a bummer to see in game 1 for sure, but it's way too small of a sample size to be jumping to any conclusions about what this team is or isn't.

I agree with @Shane Falco. Our lineup is much better than it was last season on opening day, and I'll be very surprised if games like what we saw last night are the norm for this team. Both Naylor and Donovan are low K, high on base guys. We basically didn't have any of those kinds of bats last season until they picked up Naylor at the deadline. Now we have 2 very good ones.

One game and we're cooked? Mariners fans don't do that. Donovan, Canzone, Raley had nice debutes. Gilbert looked good. Alot more to see......disappointed we lost. We gave the game away with closers. I know we are all pumped for the season. We need to infuse some reality.

I am pretty discouraged as well with seeing what we saw yesterday. A lot with cal and Julio. I’m trying not to be a rainy Seattle fan though cause you know it’s day 1. But it’s gosh dang Déjà vu every year, we can’t play just regular baseball…. We’re like a football team with no run game… petehawks…
However, my pink cloud poking through the grey is the adjustment we made last year to get where we needed. We are in a better starting point now and I just gotta give some faith to Jerry 🤮, can’t believe I just said that, but he is showing some signs of life lately

Plus we made the playoffs after 20000 years and then missed em the next year, now we made it to the cusp of the pinnacle and fell short. We fell as short as we’ve always fell and now we look like we always look and we panic…. Please help me not panic
