Hear Cleveland is looking for a back or maybe Pittsburgh.

I like it. Gore would be a great band-Aid for Cleveland. He's a big name that would cost little (in draft picks). Cleveland fans don't have the loftiest expectations to begin with. He can entertain for a year and quiet the masses until a RB is selected in the draft.

You can't compete in this league without decent WRs. Nobody respects the people you put out there to catch the ball. And CK7 running? people have it figured out and defenses have adapted to it (except the Packers, but they aren't good).
RW runs to buy time to throw. When CK7 takes off, he doesn't know how to throw on the run.

Really? Are you serious? Its hard to throw on the run when you have no one to throw to.
Did you even watch the game? They must've replayed each down like 10 times showing how SHIT our WR corp is. No one could get separation, and colts secondary was with them step for step.
If he forces the ball and gets intercepted (which he did), people go OHMAGAWD HE SUX0rz. Doesn't help with moore and williams dropping passes all day.

Hi freezfail, welcome to the .net boards. Good timing too, we just had another poster quit on us I think on sept 15th by the name of Marvn49. Pretty sure he was just a Raider fan anyway, really didn't seem to ever have a clue about what he was talking about and always just making excuses. I was on his hate list anyway because I was constantly exposing him as the hypocrite he was but to be fair there were many here telling him the same thing. The guy was a complete idiot. He would come over here and tell us we shouldn't be talking about his team because we live in glass houses and then go back to the webzone and talk trash about the the Seahawks. I tell you he guy was a complete tool, glad he left.

Anyway, welcome aboard.

^^^ Greg Roman draws up the 9ers running plays and John Morton draws up the pass plays. Roman has spent 15 years coaching at the pro level and only two years coaching at the college level. Morton has spent 8 years coaching at the pro level and 4 at the college level.

Agreed with SF49r about the problem w/ the playcalling but don't think it's that college ball is all these guys know.

Thanks. Sounds like their game planning is just stubborn. Seems like they lost their smash mouth, bunch sets, type of style and they lack a player who can stretch the field and keep teams honest. I don't know, not that I care lol.

No prob, and no worries, I know you don't really care. :)

Even over the last two seasons when the 9ers were going as far as anyone, the basic feeling among fans (and fwiw I think they're right) is that Roman draws up great and inventive running plays, but isn't that special at calling plays in-game, and has a nasty habit of trying to be too cute. Basically, I think his correct station is as an OLine coach who has a heavy hand in drawing up the run plays, but he would be best if his responsibilties were limited to that (and would have said this last year or the year before too, it's not a reactionary/sour grapes thing).

This has been bubbling since they started Kap. They had a brutal offensive physical identity when Alex Smith was starting. Ever since Kap was named the starter they have been moving away from that so that they can use their new toy. They reap what they sow.

I just sent almost those exact words to 9er fan (friend/foe). Told him they're not physical enough to play in the NFCW and should petition for a move to the AFC.

The part I like most is that Harbaugh's not naturally a finesse team type guy, so it had to be the scrambling of RW that was his ultimate undoing. He just couldn't stand it, stuck his neck out and traded Smith while screaming..."someone get an ax".

They should be. Gore had over 60 yards rushing in the 1st quarter and then they barely ever gave him the ball after that. For the 49ers to win they still need to run effectively.

The game was still very close when they stopped handing it to him. It got out of hand later. They could have handed it to him the entire 1st half.

They couldn't move the ball dude.

Edit: They didn't get the ball much and when they did, they couldn't do anything with it.

I'm not so sure it went quite like that. In the 2nd half, the Colts stopped a couple of runs dead with 8 guys committed to stopping the run, and after that on first downs if the Colts were in that alignment Kaepernick audibled to a pass. Probably an automatic read. See 8, audible. If Davis were there, a lot of that offense would have opened up.

Niner fans are worried about the wrong thing, IMO. The Colts ran at will. Stopping the run to me has been the real catalyst of the Niners for several years now, the basis of their physical identity, even before they had that devastating O-line with Iupati and Davis. A front seven that needed no help stopping the run and a pass rush that killed the pocket area in 2 seconds. Willis looks slow. Justin looks older. No good nose tackle depth.

Since Harbaugh took over, I had never seen the Niners physically beaten two games in a row. Is it Harbaugh's fault? For two years now he has been subbing for his starting defense less than anyone else in the league, with 5 playoff games added on top of that.
