I thought that penalty was bogus too, and besides with all the yapping Denver's DL was doing after the play I'd have been tempted to give a few extra shots after the play just to set the tone and leave the message

Farrar is overrated. I'm not going to get my spreadsheet out... but I decided he is. The end. ;)

Scottemojo is right, I cringe at the though of Breno pass blocking. This board will freak out if on one of Breno's missed blocks RW get smashed, or if Breno gets blocked into RW and steps on RW's ankle or something.

If Baily could be an upgrade, I can't think of a better place for him.

Could we do better? Abso-friggin-lutely

Do you have any thoughts on how we could do better? Starting right tackles are not exactly available in free agency. I guess we could have gone after Andre Smith, you know that guy that gives zero effort on non contract years. He is going to be making 8mil this year though.

It's not like we can draft one better than Breno without a top ten pick either. What is left? Finding a likely candidate or two and coaching them up takes time.

Farrar's argument is that Giacomini is overrated simply by virtue of being slightly below average on the otherwise amazing 2013 Seahawks. I guess that could be viewed as a compliment but it is rather silly and a lot of the national hype we are getting is fickle. They will be the first ones off the bandwagon if we drop our opening 10 AM EST road game to Carolina.

I think people forget that Doug is local sometimes...

Yeah. But his audience isn't. I've never heard anyone outside of Seattle overrate Giacomini. Including him on such a list is silly. He just wanted to use his stats that he had indicting Breno as crap.

I'm not an expert on rating linemen, far from it, I do know that profootballfocus does not think highly of Giacomini. Out of all the tackles in the league that took over 300 snaps, he was rated 69/80 overall. 61/80 in pass block, 48/80 in run block. His overall was lower because his penalties were one of the worst in the league for tackles.

I do think he improved in the last 5 or so games of the year, and I'm not worried with him starting at RT, he's not an elite guy but he is serviceable.

I'm sure the hawks could do better and will sooner or later... but there's something about the guy that seems to go beyond the "ratings" and "stats"... when I see the dude turning back up field and hammering the defensive player to keep him off of Russ (last game, bogus flag - he was focusing on the DL and didn't see that Russ had let go of the ball) or when I see him sprinting down the field and throwing guys off the pile like rag dolls to uncover his RB or see him on the sidelines excitedly congratulating teammates... He was smart enough to realize he was hurting the team and cleaned up the penalties for the most part and also because sitting on the bench isn't nearly as fun as hitting people...

I've developed a soft spot for the big nasty lug and his tiny head. He just seems to fit, right here, right now...
