But I’d argue Geno isn’t as good as some folks make him out to be either. Someone called him top 5 yesterday. Hes in the 10-20 range. I have him on the lower end but I totally understand someone having him near the 10 range too. I think anywhere in that tier you can make a decent case for.

We have multiple rookie quarterbacks playing better than Geno this year right now. I think Maye is, Nix, Daniels and I’m willing to bet Penix will too.
And on the flip side you have teams like indy, Carolina, Chicago. 2 of those is number one picks struggling bad. Rookies more often than not will struggle their first year. And I'd argue that Maye or Nix is playing better than Geno. Maybe has what 3, 4 starts under his belt, Nix is just now starting to play decent. How'd he play at the start of the season, like a dear in the headlights. Like.l most of them do.

Mix is having a better year and I’d argue Maye is too statically. It’s close with Maye but Nix for sure is having the better overall year.

It’s risky but if you trust your staff you have to take a chance at some point because that 5 year rookie deal is so valuable. I’d also argue we have vastly more overall talent than the 3 teams you listed.

All the talent in the world doesn't matter if your OLine is garbage. Put any of those rookies or second year QBs behind this line and see how they do. That's the only fair measure.

But to be honest, I'm fine with whatever direction they choose to go, they want to bring in a rookie and start cool, as long as we keep moving in the right direction.

I pointed that out earlier in another thread. Mayes line is ranked worse than ours.

I agree though I trust the staff to do the right thing. I hope it’s not a massive contract to Geno but we will see

You may not be saying he's bad, but a lot of folks on here are.

As far as paying him, doesn't he have one more year on his contract? Didn't we sign him for a home town discount chalked full of incentives?

How did getting a young body workeout for Carolina, indy, Chicago, SF, Texans, giants, jets. The list goes on and on. That's why you bring them in young to sit and learn. Greenbay, did it right to sit love behind Rogers. Burrow, mahones, Allen, Manning, luck, Lawrence, all struggled their rookie years. A young QB especially behind this line, would more than likely be a disaster.

He does have another year left, but I just don't want the Seahawks giving a lot trying to resign him. If they do resign him, it better be for less than they are currently paying him.

Yeah, there are a lot of teams that have missed on early drafted QB's. It's a gamble. It's also a gamble that's worth it. The Texans are set for years now with Stroud. The Broncos look as though they hit with Nix. Hurts, Tua, and Allen were all early picks. Heck, I even remember when Seattle started a rookie QB with Wilson. Turned out pretty good I would say.

Nothing is ever guaranteed, but it's always worth a try.

I think he’s going to demand a negotiation for a new contract with one year left but I could be wrong.

Rookie Wilson didn’t have a good line either. What helped them was the zone read and the threat of him running. Lunch went up almost a yard per carry from the year before if I remember correctly.
