i don't put it all on geno. geno's taken some bad sacks, yeah. but waldron's playcalling has been sub-par today. running into stacked boxes, being predictable on 1st down, he hasn't designed many good drives.

I mean, he isn't going to light it up every week and Cardinals are not a bad defense.

It'll be like this most days until Lock finally starts.

We'll be better off next year with Herndon Hooker starting regardless.

They are jumping our snap count and the play calling has been awful. We put one drive on Geno's arm from the jump on first down and it's the only TD we've had.

I get the impression that Geno Smith is a rhythm QB. His game is fundamentally different than Wilson's. He doesn't thrive off of chaos. Previously we focused on getting him in a rhythm, today that didn't exist. We consistently put him in 3rd and long situations with failed first and second runs. We got rid of a lot of the route concepts we were running previously.

I saw a lot of the same route concepts we ran under Wilson, long developing routes, lots of emphasis on deep routes.

They were rushing 5 and 6 guys at a time and jumping the snap. Geno did well to get rid of the ball as fast and as accurately as he did. Geno is not the end game but I am sure proud of his play.

65% completion, right around 200 yards, 48 yards rushing, and a win. He did take some sacks but they were more because of the turnstiles in front of him than because he was trying to prolong plays. And finally in the last couple of drives Waldron started calling some quick passes. Better late than never, on that.

I'll take it any time.

Plus, as the season goes on, defenses improve and have more tape to study on their opponents - scores (on average) go down for all the teams.

It's not even about being in rhythm, we fundamentally took the game off of Geno's arm to put it in the hands of our backup RB. It was simply a poor gameplan.

I don't know if they realized we were getting beat on our snap count and thought that since they were sending 5 or 6 men to the backfield so often that the runs were going to start magically cranking off, but our best runs came when we were cranking in the passing game... like basically every single other time this year.

We are a different team with Geno at QB. We are a pass-first offense. The game needs to run off of his arm. I don't know if this was Waldron or Pete, but they've got to drop this idea of running the team like they did for Russ.
