With this DK development I'm ready to move on from him and Geno. Use the $ to fix the OLine, improve the D, draft a mid- round QB & try to trade for a guy like Jake Browning. Let Howell and a couple compete in camp and lean on the run game and let our defense set the tone. If a QB does not emerge draft the best we can get in 26' at that point we will be flush with cap room.
This situation feels like it is approaching critical mass, time is of the essence and crafting a young team for our young coach is the best path forward.
You miss 100% of the shots you don't take and we may be in our optimum window to move this team forward.
Purely conjecture, but JS would greatly bolster his chances of success & staying in Seattle by showing a plan of urgency to quickly return this team to playoff contention. I think the 12's will show patience if a plan of urgency is shown, but if stuck in the status quo the seat will heat up. The wonder boy's shine has worn dull with a stretch of poor drafts, questionable FA signings and a blind eye to weak spots.

This team is not that far off even without DK & Geno. A couple OL, a couple WR's, 2-3 upgrades on defense and take our shots on a QB or two over the next couple of years. Howell might surprise us, JS might once again strike gold or maybe our defense will just have to carry us.
It's a brave new world out there.

"Yeah. Heck yeah, man," Macdonald said. "Geno's our quarterback. I don't understand the conversation. It's pretty obvious this guy is a heck of a quarterback. He's our quarterback. We love him. Can't wait to go to work with him."

"We've had a lot of non-football conversations -- to keep it legal -- over the last month or so," Macdonald told the TV station, referring to Smith. "And I know he's really excited about Klint taking over. This guy, he's a great player, man. And we can win a championship with Geno Smith. We really believe that and can't wait to get back to work with him."

Should tell you everything we need to know at this point. 👏 👍

c'mon - I got duped as much as everyone else.

Gullible? I don't think so - but I will tip my hat to JS and MM. Whatever the **** they are up to - it was total misdirection.

Everyone? I'd say what the team said was obviously platitudes that meant very little if anything. Willingness to let him go had to be the easiest decision around, especially if contract numbers are true. I feared an extension, but always felt the team would hold strong and letting him go was possible.

Believing the team was high on Geno and confident in him as the QB of the present was defensible.

What was gullible was those who took the words of the team hype men as gospel, given the history of teams lying and the no benefit from talking negatively about players in these kind of situations.
