Metcalf looked really good, so glad we have a big target now.

Our Dline played great. Our front 7 overall played really good BUT one to remember is that the Bengals basically had a 2nd string line in and their line already sucks. Doesn’t take away the performance and im excited to see what Reed and Ansah do to charge it up even more. Need to see t against a competent team.

I thought Russ was solid, he did have a couple classic Russ hold the ball too long and run backwards to end the drive sacks. Some couldn’t be avoided because.....

Our O Line was AWFUL. For a unit that was suppose to be a strength and possible “top 5” unit... I am pretty sure I saw Cables ghost on the sideline. Abysmal.

Our secondary is trash and we are lucky our front 7 is so good because otherwise we would give up 400 yards a game. Shaq played well which was nice to see but Flowers and TT make Dalton look like Tom Brady. Terrible.

I was at the game, so I didn`t get the benefit or bias of the announcers, but I thought our OL was dismal at run blocking and worse at pass blocking. IMO, it was the main reason we had difficulty moving chains through most of the game. Too many sacks and a lousy run average choked our offense. Cinn's OL fared better at pass pro and that unit is considered weak.
Happy with the win and having the pedigree of winners usually steps up, as it did today.
Joyful to be impressed with Shaq`s and DK`s game.

Carson was getting some great blocking in today as well.

Picked up the blitz quite well on that long throw to Metcalf in the second quarter.

Carson was out of the game too much. Didn’t like penny getting so many opportunities. If they want to pound the ball, not sure why they’d go with obvious run then PA with Carson but get penny two straight runs.

Don't forget that Pete likes to use Week 1 as the fifth preseason game. It's pretty common for him to still be testing concepts this late. He's not the only one, either, and it's part of the reason Week 1 results are always so wonky around the league, and so non-reflective of the season.

Very good. Then we should see some improvement week 2. We will need it on the road in Pitt.

OL's poor performance, especially in the first half, made me literally sick to my stomach. Hope their performance in Week 2 will be the much-needed Pepto-BIsmol. Can't have RW always needing to get rid of the ball as fast as possible or do circus-calibre scrambles. Give the guy an actual POCKET for once!

The vanilla offensive scheme makes it harder for the OLine to block. As the defenders in front of them easily read what they are doing and attack. The offense needs to do a better job of making defenders indecisive and putting them in conflict. They may do that the least in the NFL.

Wilson's scrambling is about the only thing they have that puts defenders in conflict. To go along with their wicked playaction pass game. As the defense falls asleep playing the run over and over.

The top offenses in the league build around the concept of putting defenders in conflict. And attacking the weak point, that works too.

Funny thing...."vanilla" is exactly the word I was thinking of when I was watching the game. This offense is fooling nobody.

I was disappointed in the OL play. They should do better.
I was impressed with DK.

It was an ugly game, but I'll take the W and move on. Here's hoping there is improvement next week.

Only gave up 3 points in 2nd half... for what its worth.

Well said. It's always a struggle for the Seahawks week one. I'm not going to read to much in to this game. Britt and Pocic were awful that was really the biggest problem I saw out there today.

Pocic was bad but he had a hell of a block that sprung Carson for that 22 yard run for the first down late in the game.

I guess? He got bull rushed backwards and Carson bounced off him and had the big gain. Pocic is a waste.

We had Moore/Ursua and Ansah/LJ inactives.. Come on guys. It was just Game 1. We got the W and we move on. It was a typical Seahawks game. Yes TT got burnt and did a terrible mistake (Ross TD) and OLine had a bad night , but let's be real , Bengals have some talent in DL (Lawson , Atkins and Dunlap). Next game we will be better. And let's hope Ursua and Ansah will be ready to go. On the positive side Russ used DK and i liked all these deep balls , Carson ran well and we got no injuries. Go Hawks !

Carson got 21 touches to Penny's 6. How was Carson underutilized?

Keep in mind we had 45 offensive plays. Carson touched the ball nearly half the time.

And FTR they were equally ineffective.

I thought Penny looked better than Carson today when given the opportunity. Had 7 attempts - 5,3,0,5,20,5,0. Unfortunate to have the 21 yarder reversed for an Ifedi hold. But even without it, 3 good runs, 1 OK run, and 2 stops/bad runs.

Carson had
1,3,5,3,11,1,1T,3,-6,-1,1,4,21,0,-1

In other words, 33 of Carson's 46 yards came from 2 runs, and he averaged 1 YPC across the other 13. He had 7 carries that went for 1 yard or less, and as many carries for 5 yards (the benchmark distance for a "good" run) as Penny did in more than twice the attempts. i.e. 3 good runs, 4 OK runs and 7 "bad" runs. And of course a fumble.

He did score 2 TDs and was generally a threat out of the backfield, but I would imagine getting the ball in space like that would suit Penny more given his speed). Anyway, no complaints from me about either back, the OL didn't get much push all game and they had to work with what they got. I just thought Penny did reasonably well given the limited opportunity.

i doubt TT makes that mistake again.

Wasnt it Sherman and the LOB that gave up a last ditch bomb to get Chi in FG range to send the game in OT? Plays like that happen.

Ugly wins are kind of the norm with this team, nobody should be surprised really. O Line looked really bad, Thompson looked out of position all day, and WAY too much cushion by the D. I'm looking forward to seeing this team get better. I'll take an ugly W any time. We all look at it our own way, and that's cool. But complaining about how the team wins, meh. It was ugly and they got outplayed. Yet the won. Cool
