Seems like so many times the Seahawks don’t use their timeouts correctly. This is one of the very first instances I’ve seen where they were thinking ahead and use them wisely as I actually thought as well they should be doing exactly what they did.

The psychology behind it is interesting

The reason it worked is due to the Colts likely having little faith in advancing the ball much further and thus being more likely to try kicking a mega field goal

They were right and it worked

Right. Others might hold on to those timeouts so they can take advantage of the 23 seconds left on the clock when they get the ball back.

Definitely some clutch strategy.

I love how MM involves everyone with the organization. Gameball to the assistant. That’s truly awesome

…that called to use the timeouts at the end.

Make good calls, trust your people. This worked out really well.
Having clutch Myers also helps!
I'd agree with you on this one. Nice to see some GOOD clock management.

Usually everyone is just standing around staring at their shoes mumbling 'what should we do?'.

No cellphones were thrown instead of challenge flags on this one!!!! :)

I already admitted I was in WTF mode when they started calling those timeouts.

Guess that's why I watching from my recliner.

Oh! And class move for MM to come up with that one. Don't see it every day.

Omg, I was in the same spot. I'm like.....why are they calling timeouts? Turns out it was brilliant.
That's why I'm in the stands and not on the sidelines.

If you go back to look at previous games, there are so many times where teams should be more aggressive with using their timeouts. In the NFL today, it’s so common for teams to make it close at the end so ensuring you have a chance to go up late is so important.

I was relieved when they started using timeouts. It seemed like something we wouldn't have done in the past and therefore would have lost with little or no time remaining. Props to the assistant and MM for getting it right.

Pete was famous for "trusting his defense" and letting the clock tick tick tick........

In todays game where 50 plus field goals are almost automatic, you need the ball last in close game scenarios

After so many years of poor time management I was surprised and very happy to see our timeouts getting called when they were most needed.

I don't want to bring up Pete but that is a game we lose under him because he wouldn't have used the timeouts in that fashion. I love that Macdonald learns from his mistakes like clock management and ends up having a game saving decision like he did yesterday.
