Sorry to hear that and nothing but the best of luck to your wife. I will say that kidney cancer is extremely treatable so do your best in keeping positive. 🙏
Thank you for your thoughts and well wishes @seabowl. We've been told by several doctors that kidney cancer is very treatable. I've also heard nothing but good comments about UW Medical and Fred Hutchinson, including from my own PCP who happens to be a personal friend in addition to my doctor. My wife is in very good spirits, so all is well.

We're in the middle of a family crisis. My wife was recently diagnosed with kidney cancer and will need surgery. It's by no means a death sentence, but obviously a big event. I had to cancel a cruise of the Panama Canal that I had planned. My daughter and grandson came down from their home in Spokane to visit this weekend.

As a rule, I'm in a state of limbo between now and the first of April. That's when baseball season starts and we start getting irrigation water. It's too cold to do anything outside, and I've lost interest in basketball.
Prayers up for your wife! Sorry that you & your family had to hear that news. Hope that she gets the best care, and things start looking up for you guys. Glad to hear you & her are in good spirits, a lot of people wouldn't be, reasonably so. But it's never a bad thing to remain hopeful & resilient, it takes a lot of mental strength to do so, in times like that.

For my first sunday :

Got up, surfed the net, went for an hour walk, came back home, surfed the net, got in my car, went to BK, ate some food, came home, surfed the net, and I'm still doing that.

I’m sorry to hear about your wife’s diagnosis. I hope for the best for her and everyone involved.

Am actually writing my older brother's obituary this evening. Never really imagined, until last fall when he was diagnosed with a rare and aggressive form of thyroid cancer, a scenario where either one of us might not make it to our 80s. He passed away just days before the Super Bowl at the age of 66. On the plus side, am so very glad I got to see him one last time, having flown back up to Washington the week prior. We had a real nice long talk about random topics. But shoot, life can be surprisingly fragile out there at times.

My heart goes out to you, @Ruminator. I lost my dad to lung cancer 2 days before his 60th birthday. To this day, I feel that I got cheated out of 20 years with my best friend. As the saying goes, life's not fair.

Your comment about not imaging a scenario how you and your brother wouldn't make it to your 80's is very prophetic IMO. Either one of us could walk across the street and get struck and killed by a car in the next few moments. It's a reminder to always be kind, especially to those whom we love, because you never know. You don't always get a chance to say goodbye.

Hang in there, bro.

I empathize with you. Lost my pops/best friend when he was just 63, and I was 30. I will always feel like 30 years wasn't enough time with him. Life isn't as funny without him.

Have watched so many replays and different Hawks shows over the weekend, good stuff. Watching for a 3rd time, that score isn't even CLOSE to how much they dominated. Honestly, it could have been a 30 point blowout, easily.

This thread should be stickied to the top of the page, imo.
All of the positive karma/energy needs to be given to the RiverDog family.

I was thinking about starting a thread in the Lounge so as not to divert this thread's topic, but I see that the forum no longer exists. I didn't really intend to discuss it, just that the question of what we were doing this weekend seemed pretty general, so I spilled my guts.

Unless the mods have another suggestion, I'll post any updates here. Tomorrow afternoon, we have an appointment with a renal oncologist from Fred Hutch that will be done remotely. Thanks again for everyone's support.

Whenever someone repeats the saying "life's not fair," losing my dad at an early age is the first thing I think of.
