Carolina coach Ron Rivera’s house was significantly damaged in an early morning fire Monday, but no one was injured.

Team spokesman Charlie Dayton says Rivera, his wife Stephanie and visiting family members were inside their Charlotte home at the time of the blaze. Rivera says he smelled smoke and heard smoke detectors going off. Everyone was able to get out of the home safely.

The Panthers are getting ready to face Seattle in the NFC divisional playoff game Saturday.

Dang. My Positive vibes are sent to the coach, except on Saturday. Sucks to have to deal with that, glad no one was hurt.

Setting up a crazy super bowl story run. I bet it was a crazy hawks fan that set the fire. I was in Florida during that time period...

I hate to see tragedies like this but do you guys ever wonder if it's all set up to make amazing story lines ala WWE? I Mean if the Panthers win (God Forbid) you'll can almost guarantee the headline "Forged by Fire Rivera leads Panthers Past the Seahawks" or playing with Cam's Superman schtick "Super Cam Defeats the Legion of Boom" and then if the seahawks win they'll play the winner of packers vs cowboys. That game will surely bring up the whole America's team debate between the two fan bases with arguably the most followers the Cowboys and Packers (http://m.espn.go.com/general/blogs/blogpost?blogname=nflnation&id=59058&src=desktop). The winner will play the Seahawks which parallels the good vs. evil, Heel vs Faces in wrestling... I don't know, it just all seems to be too good to be true sometimes the way the season plays out. The NFL considers itself being an entertainment business rather than a sport one. Call me crazy and bust out the tin foil hat!
