Every team has a chance to blow it. I just take it one day at a time. They could win 15 in a row and I’d still be bummed if they lost number 16 as if they should go 162-0. In the words of the talented and poetic Meatloaf, “two outa three ain’t bad”

Bryce Miller on the IL, inflammation in his elbow. Damn.
So, 3 of our 5 starters are out. And somehow, we are still in 1st place.

All in how you look at it.

My beloved SF Giants are playing pretty good ball - but I have been a fan too long to have any real hope. It is too early to think about any sort of success - I am just enjoying them being better than the putrid offering they put up last year.

Of course I do look back fondly on 2010, 2012, and 2014. But - DAMN - those were a long time coming.

Also, every team in baseball has a slump. ALL OF THEM.
I was going to quote them... but decided not to.. (Instead tag them and reply to you lol ) I wanted to reply earlier but for some reason couldnt figure out my password on my phone while in Italy

I think I grasp the point they say we are MISSING apparently

The Yankees, Red Soxs, Tigers, "Guardians", Padres, and so on... most teams in the top two in their division have lost multiple times at 3 in a row... Or lost 4 in a row, Padres 5, Detroit 4 etc... If they do it... its part of the "master plan" and fans should be cool and celebrate the start of the season

If they Mariners do it, 40 games.. into the 162 game season... its because we are a terrible team and should be ashamed for enjoying success even for the first part of the season.

@cymatica and @Maulbert I deeply apologize for for both @SoulfishHawk and I being completely obtuse to the works of baseball in May or over all logical grasp of the game. We are sorry and I personally will try to get more in your frame of thinking so I can detest Mariners baseball on an ebb and flow basis.

No you don't grasp it at all.

The Mariners are the only team never to make a World Series. They have repeatedly throughout the years choked or fumbled the opportunity every season as they get our hopes up that they finally might make a playoff run, or even make the playoffs.

If it was just an occasional occurrence then I wouldn't even bring it up. It's a pattern over several decades. It's a running joke at this point. Some people still just don't get it apparently.

We're all aware that they've never made the world series. It's something that has pissed me off since 77. Geezus man. Just because people decide to have hope, that doesn't mean they don't actually know the struggles.

This team has been maddening their entire existence. But it's May 15th, this sh** is just getting started, and they're in 1st place.
Absolutely slumping. But I'm not giving up, waste of energy. I know how the story ends, over and over again.
But don't act all high and mighty like everyone else is stupid if they're not 24/7 doom and gloom.
I understand baseball as much as anyone, I'm not a f'ing idiot.

Part of them problem is the Mariners have money to spend in FA but ownership refuses to make this team a true contender. It's a hypothetical but what if Jerry was able to add Juan Soto to this lineup this past offseason. A major issue is the Mariners can make a play at top tier players but ownership refuses. A lot of our young stars in the minors are close to being called up but not all will work out. I do like the approach of building through the draft and minors but you also need to be flexible enough to add a major piece in FA or trade to get you over the top.

Even though it’s hard to trust this mariners lineup I still think it’s only getting better. Julio is not even full grown yet. Same with cal. And as these guys get into their senior seasons new young stars will be there. Juan Soto would be awesome but I’d love to see our rookies take the jobs. I was watching Bryce Harper the other day and I thought about Julio. Bryce had a slow start to his career but now as a mature hitter he is one of the scariest hitters to face. Julio will get there.

Clearly I read it wrong. But you did assume that people don't get it.

Never mind, not really that important.

This team is somehow in 1st place. With NO KIRBY for the entire season so far, NO Walter for much of it, and now they have Miller on the IL.
They lost Robles VERY early, same with Raley and Bliss.

It's really in how you look at it. Not one person on here is w/out knowledge of the ridiculous history of this team, none of us.
The fact with all those losses, still sitting in 1st place? It's a minor miracle. Shoot, the starting rotation overall has been a disappointment so far, imo.
