Ferguson is a microcosm of the Metcalf hype.

A player who LOOKS the part, makes some plays and all of a sudden we're all Jazz Ferguson experts and proponents.

Fact is he does have a lot of potential, but he's still raw and needs to learn how to act like a pro. That might take some practice squad time, of which I think we can sneak him onto.........because every other team is going to see him the same as us, a raw player with personal question marks that still needs work to trust when the games matter.

I can't speak for others, but I'm not exactly ready to have a Fergasm quite yet.

Pope has been released by MULTIPLE teams. I liked Pope, but he would be playing if he was nearly as good as people made him out to be. Same goes for Kasen Williams.
That being said, wouldn't mind him returning kicks for us :irishdrinkers:

Pope does well in the preseason but not so well when the regular season is here. :snack:

I suspect Ursua or Homer will assume a bigger role kick returning.

I believe the team will keep Ferguson but only 3 TEs. The opening roster will have 7 WRs, 3 TEs, 3 RBs, 1 FB, or 4 RBs and no FB.

For those that dismiss the preseason, Russell Wilson, by his own admission, may never have become the starting QB without the preseason.

That being said it was quite apparent that Russ was going to be the guy from his practice and classroom work, not just his splashy performances in the games. The games merely showed the translation or his work ethic and practice discipline into game performance. That and Matt Flynn got tennis elbow.

Splashing in games only works in your favor if you do the other little things right.

You couldn't be more wrong, those preseason games changed everything and Russ has said so himself many times.

To pick a completely random team, here's what the receiver group for the Cardinals looks like right now:
- Larry Fitzgerald (16th year player, starter at X)
- Christian Kirk (2nd year player, starter at Z)
- Kevin White (5th year player, starter at slot receiver)
- Andy Isabella (2019 2nd round pick)
- Hakeem Butler (2019 4th round pick, just broke his hand)
- KeeSean Johnson (2019 6th round pick)
- Pharoh Cooper (Fourth year receiver)
- Trent Sherfield (Second year receiver)
- Damiere Byrd (Fourth year receiver)
- Chad Williams (Third year receiver)
- Isaac Zico (Purdue UDFA)
- AJ Richardson (BSU UDFA)

1) How many receivers will they keep? Probably 5 or 6.

2) Where would Ferguson be on their depth chart? Probably towards the bottom.

Cardinals fans aren't thinking about signing Ferguson off our practice squad but that we might sign somebody off their practice squad. Look at other teams and you'll see this same story play out pretty much everywhere.

I'm not sure this means anything. Ferguson also leads the team in targets and drops.
Sounds like they are giving Ferguson every chance to show his wares, the drops are likely being tallied, along with the catches.
With all the opportunities coming his way, he'll need to show that the drops are an anomaly; Although, catching passes from an inconsistent Quarterback needs to be factored into the formula.
I love me some Ursua, and although undersized, I think that with a little more time with Russell, it'd be a real bastard of a time for corners trying to covering him.

Kasen Williams had crazy pre season stats once to and did not make it.

He was cut because he had a limited route tree and didn't put any effort into blocking downfield. If Ferguson can play on special teams and/or block downfield, then he'll have a much higher chance of making the roster than KW did.

The drop by Jazz at the end was caused by the strip fumble. He was trying to make a big play and started downfield before he'd made the catch. He took his "eye off the ball" trying to make up for the fumble. IMO

^^ Brown is in the definite column. And you're out of your mind if you think they're going to waste their 4th round pick with Jennings. They'll want to make that work.

In reality, Jazz and others have little excuse to make the team (other than bad backup Qbs) because they've gotten plenty of targets

We have cut Durham and Norwood, Chris Harper, Jaye Howard all 4th rounders, we have got rid of others drafted higher like Moffit.

They have regrets but no qualms about letting guys go if they are not a fit.

Yep. The best way to waste an4thnround pick is to hold onto it even after you realize it was wasted.

Kasen Williams is a horrible comp for Jazz Ferguson, as I see others pointed out.
Only skill he had was catching jump balls. One dimensional player.
Remains to be seen about the rest of Jazz's game, but he is more physically talented than Kasen, recalling that Williams had a years-prior catastrophic knee injury that still affected his athletic ability when he was with the Hawks.
Kasen Williams did not seem to have the emotional and hence mental abilities to play at an NFL level. His play showed he felt it should be all about him all the time. Resident narcissist Richard Sherman, who, in his own mind at least, is better at leading football teams than Pete Carroll and John Schneider, was certain Kasen was the bomb and made his opinions known, including what fools Pete and John were for not keeping and starting him.

Rooting for Jazz... hope he works and learns to do all the little things it takes to turn into a quality NFL WR, and does it for the 'Hawks. I think this PC/JS reclamation project has a very good chance of success.

If it's between Jazz and Jennings why keep Jennings? What has he done on Special teams. I think Jennings is competing with Moore for a spot. I think even with a bad showing in game #2 Jazz's chances increased with the DK injury. He is basically the DK insurance. Just feels to me like Jennings is like Darboh or Norwood, has good measurables but until he shows me something special he is really just a big fast WR who looks the part and won't be a real NFL starter.

Something else to consider Jennings will almost certainly make the practice squad he's done nothing so far . Ferguson will never clear waivers and that's not just me saying that it's the consensus.

Never is a strong word however in this case I think it's appropriate. Ferguson is exactly the kind of WR i'd be looking for if I were Arizona a big athletic WR that runs good routes and wins the 50/50's. He's be a great match for Murray. All that said I've seen the FO make bonehead decisions at WR before.
