If Geno was able to pull off a 4th Q comeback I’d think about paying him real QB money. Just doubt he can accomplish that with any regularity. For now he is a reasonable stopgap good backup guy who can hold onto his spot until a younger guy is ready. (Yes, I am aware he had a very good season this last year)

If he can find real $ elsewhere God bless him and hopefully things turn out to giving the team a comp pick.

I found it interesting that Dave Wyman during one of the Wyman and Bob segments called Hurtt a brilliant guy defensively. I honestly don't know what to make of it, because results wise Hurtt has not been all that good with the D-Line while he was a coach for it or as our D-Coordinator. Some of the calls last season came no where close to matching down and distance or the personnel that the offense had on the field and it killed us consistently.

Exactly.
I will admit I'm not one of the 3 people on .net that could coach . What I will say is it looked to my untrained eye like there was confusion and disconnect with what they were trying to do. They would stop the opposition for 2 downs and then give up 3rd and 9 for the first down .

Seattle's initial success came from extraordinary athletes playing a simple scheme. It appears they've moved on from both ideas.

I like Dave Wyman. And he's generally prone to more positive takes on the Hawks. But he tended to be more a company guy as concerns the Hawks when he took over as the Hawks radio analyst for the games after Warren Moon ran into trouble. At least that's how it felt to me. Still like him.

Do you feel that Hurtt had no input as to who we brought in for his defensive line as he was the defensive line coach? Are you aware of the videos that have been released during draft time in previous years where the position coaches are asked who they want? Are you aware that our two biggest busts recently in Malik McDowell and LJ Collier are the prototypical body types for the defense that Hurtt implemented in the previous season, thus pretty easy to surmise that he was responsible for wanting those guys on his defensive line? Are you aware that we ran several small defenses with 2-4-5 and 3-4-4 when facing 13 personnel more than we should have? Are you aware that we were gashed almost every time that we made those mistakes? Are you aware that the defensive coordinator was the one that chose the personnel facing those offensive sets?

Who WOULD be their usual boisterous self when enduring the inconsistency our D showed this year? I can write off some of that to the number of younger players we had taking the field for us, but not all of it. Our weakness at LB really hurt when coupled with our inability to get penetration with our interior line. Playing strictly reactionary leads to predetermined results, and that is what we did all year. Our TFL was dreadful.
Draftng a QB as the highest priority will not alter the amount of pressure having a poor defense adds to the QB position.

I will say this about PC and his Hawks' teams since the LOB. He does get his teams to achieve above their talent level for the most part. And pretty consistently so. But that's been a bit of the problem. I oftentimes feel like we've been jerry-rigging the roster for some years now, like an old car that needs a complete overhaul, but instead is slapped together with either old used parts or cheap new ones. Then we roll on and usually end up with a winning record and a near bottom rung playoff appearance.

Success? That's the debate.

Geno is very fortunate he didn't lead the league in turnovers. His turnover-worthy plays were sky high, he was just really lucky (dropped interceptions, etc.). The league is going to be aware of this. Have a listen:
