Remember when the Seahawks were fined over a lucid Russell Wilson going into and then right back out of a concussion tent?

Replays showed Savage looking dazed after his head hit the ground with both of his arms shaking and lifted upward. He was taken to the medical tent where he stayed for less than three minutes before returning to the bench and going back in for the next series.

The NFL said the Texans would not be fined for the incident. The NFL and the union review determined that the medical staff followed protocol but that his return to the game was "unacceptable."

Different interpretations for different folks. I don't know that any standard protocol actually exists. It may be just another myth.

When is a concussion a concussion? When is a catch a catch? When is interference pass interference?

Rules are too subjective these days. I felt in SB49 that Edelman and Amendola both got concussion but were allowed to continue playing. However, Avril was ruled out during the game. Since then, I've always felt the rules are interpreted differently based on who's involved and what teams are involved. It is what it is.

If you wanna argue Savage should have been sent off the field I 100% agree and if you wanna argue the protocols and procedures around concussions aren’t robust enough I 100% agree, but in no way whatsoever is there evidence of a double standard across these two cases.

Wilson was ordered to go into the protocol and decided not to. That’s it. Full stop.

The evolving hypocracy is from the NCAA up thru the ranks of NFL or the other way around. I am watching a lot of NCAA games and see the same deceptions there too. They seem to want their team to win.......So this has become NCAA/WWE visa vie NFL/WWE.

Double standards resurface?

Russell Wilson has retained a personal trainer and a personal nutritionist. Perhaps he should consider hiring a creative writer as well.

Newton then struggled to get to his feet and collapsed to the turf while trying to jog to the sidelines. He was then tended to by medical personnel and helped off the field. The Panthers immediately announced Newton was being evaluated for a concussion.

Newton, however, was only taken into the team's medical tent rather than the locker room. This would appear to be a violation of the NFL's new concussion protocol, which states: "A player who exhibits gross motor instability or significant loss of balance must be taken to the locker room for evaluation if it is not diagnosed as an orthopedic injury."

There is NO way you can do a concussion protocol in under 3 minutes. With those bizarre reactions on the field, he should have been in that tent for at least 10 minutes.

And, they admit, he never should have gone back in the game.

But no fine. Zero dollars.

In the Souper bowl, Edelman did get a concussion, everyone saw it, yet he went back in the game. THat off season I saw an interview with him the interviewer asked him "Shouldn't you have sat out after that concussion?" He smirked, and replied, "What's a concussion?"

And that's why we have the tent now, and the protocol, and the independent evaluators...speaking of which, where are those guys during the game? Shouldn't they be watching and saying "Pull that guy, he exhibited symptoms!" Every time the Patriots break the rules, the NFL adds new ones, that only effect the other 31 teams.

After the game the Panthers claimed he was poked in the eye.

Idk bout this, but they're certainly turning the other way in the playoffs.

No way Cam should have finished the game yesterday. Hard for the NFL to expect everyone to take them seriously about CTE and their strict concussion rules and protocol when they're not enforcing it in the playoffs.

Happened in our SB game against the Patriots, no way Edelman should have finished the game.

Also, after the pick by Ramsey, he runs to the goal post and dunks it, then he rips his helmet off in the field of play and THROWS it. Where was the penalty? P Rich getting yanked down to the ground on the Hawks' final play, no call. The ref CHOSE to ignore it. And the Edelman is more proof, they CHOSE to let the Pats do whatever they wanted. Yet Avril never came back in the game.

Amendola got nailed and was walking around like a drunk chicken during the game but was allowed to come back. Getting Avril out of the game was the game changer. The Seahawks were dominating up to that point and had a 24-14 lead. Once Avril was gone, the Seahawk pass rush disintegrated. Considering all the DBs were playing hurt, it was premium that the Seahawks had to have a pass rush.

It seems the Panthers would rather admit to cheating than confirm they ignored the concussion protocol.

Personally I think they are trying what they perceive is the lesser of 2 evils. In reality they are actually lying by admitting to cheating.

Exactly, once Avril was out, they doubled Bennett, who they said was the only guy doing anything on the D Line. Made it much easier for the Pats.
