I believe that some of the morning games can be moved to afternoon slots. Last week, on the ticker on NFL Network, it listed some games that were being flexed. I could be totally wrong, but I believe a couple of them were just that, day games moved to afternoon or vice versa.
Yes, and years ago this would never happen, but that said, the various TV contracts that were given out over the last few years have explicitly given networks the right to protect games, and the right to take other games that are not protected i.e. they could easily ask FOX to select a few games that they did not want to give up, and then pick a new game from the remainder.
We've absolutely seen east coast games moved from the 1 PM local time timeslot to the 4:25 PM timeslot, for precisely this reason i.e. a network has a double header and the main national game in the later slot is not going to be compelling.
I think that would be really helpful. A 10 a.m. road game right after a big divisional game kind of sucks. Seahawks are usually at their best in prime time. 8)
