I don’t have much time to post in here anymore, so I thought I would encapsulate some wandering thoughts…

6-1 for the first time in franchise history. I like the sound of 6-1.

Good teams beat the likes of the Arizona Cardinals last night, even on a short week, on the road during a stretch of 4 of 5 away games, playing without both starting tackles, and giving them the ball TWICE inside our own 20 yard line on turnovers.

So impressed with the 12’s turnout last night! Also so not impressed with all those empty seats in that stadium. Arizona is a strange fan base – a lot of transplants live in Arizona so you definitely won’t see the die-hard dedication like the Seahawks fan base.

The schedule makers tried as much as they could to pressurize the first half of the season, didn’t they? @ Carolina in the heat to start the season, @ Houston and @ Indianapolis back-to-back in early starts, @ Arizona and @ St. Louis back-to-back.

Speaking of which…how in the world is the season already halfway over?? Unbelievable.

A win over the Rams puts us at 7-1 at the halfway point. We’ve had a rash of critical injuries and a suspension to overcome (Robinson, Okung, Irvin, Browner, Unger, Giacomini, Miller, Wagner, Hill, Harvin). Our depth is so good we have had young guys step up and get the job done. Not pretty, but how many other teams in the league would be 6-1 right now losing so many critical players the first half of the season? We only have two early start road games left, both against flawed teams (Atlanta and the N.Y. Giants).

Oh, by the way, we are about to get one of the most explosive playmakers in the league back on offense. Speaking of offense…don’t look now, but it is starting to find its way even with all the disruption on the line and players in and out of the line-up, not to mention the string of stout defenses we have faced. Imagining Harvin in this line-up is tantalizing. We’ve never really had a player like him. Just as exciting is imagining all the space he is going to open up for the other guys on offense. Defensive coordinators, have fun with that.

Brandon Browner, welcome to the 2013 NFL season! Good to see BB make some big plays.

Russell Wilson is pretty good, eh? I think we will keep him. His first touchdown pass to Sidney Rice was a thing of beauty. Escaping defenders, head down the field, rolling to his right and he has the awareness to see Rice adjust his route and throw a perfect 45-yard pass. Stunning. It is scary to think what he could do with a bona-fide #1 WR like an AJ Green, and with a top-flight offensive line that seals the pocket. Think about how much the Cardinals would give up for a player like Russell Wilson right now.

Now, let’s hope he works on ball security this week and gets that squared away. A better team could have really killed us with those costly turnovers deep in our own territory last night, not to mention the 5 fumbles last week. Football is a weird sport sometimes and crazy stuff happens in spurts, but I hope we have it out of our system.

7 sacks from 8 different players last night. That’s crazy. And although he didn’t have a sack, I like the Irvin switch to linebacker more and more. Once he really figures it out he is going to be very good.

We are 17-6 in our last 23 regular season games. We are 8-2 in our last 10 road games, and 30 seconds away from being 9-1 with two road playoff wins under our belt. Maybe now the talking heads will stop talking about our “road woes” – it’s getting old.

3-0 in the Wolf Gray’s now. I think we can only wear the alternates twice a season, if I remember correctly – so we won’t see them again. Bummer.

What’s with all the hamstring injuries this season? Browner, Miller, now Coleman and Johnson. Weird.

James Carpenter is…really out of shape. I was befuddled with all the reports last off-season and during camp about “how good of shape Carpenter is in”. Nobody will convince me he is in shape. He’s winded three plays into a game.

I like the Tony McDaniel signing more and more every week I watch him play. That is one large man. Throwing Carson Palmer (who is a pretty big guy himself) down like a rag doll was awesome.

Kam Chancellor destroying an offensive tackle and crushing an edge run play was probably my favorite play of the night. He’s my favorite Seahawk, so I might be biased…but that was just awesome. A buddy of mine who is a Cardinals fan was like, “your SAFETY flattened our tackle!” lol.

Earl Thomas already has more interceptions this season than he did all of last season (not counting the playoffs). He really has a knack for covering a lot of ground when he is playing single-high safety and being in place to grab those balls along the sideline.

Was I the only one that could see that Wilson QB sneak on the 4th down play a mile away? That would have been a great time for a fake and rollout pass like we did so well with Mike Rob last season.

Speaking of Mike Rob… have they called him yet? Hey, I can hope.

Great play designs on the early 23-yard completion to Luke Willson and the 14-yard completion to Golden Tate up the sideline. They obviously spotted something in the Cardinals defense and took advantage of it. They used Willson and Tate’s quickness to get out to vacated space quickly and let them get upfield.

I was just waiting for Richard Sherman to return that kick for a touchdown, lol.

Monday Nighter against the Rams next. The Rams play us very tough as of late and have looked pretty good the last two games. I’m still not impressed with their offense and I’m really surprised they haven’t figured out a way to really use Tavon Austin. His low YPC and lack of play making is odd. That should be a good game…but I like our chances a lot. We always seem to play well in “prime time”.

We should be 8-1 heading into the game at Atlanta, with 4 of our last 6 at home and getting Russell Okung back in time for the stretch run. Our primary competition for HFA in the NFC, New Orleans, has games coming up at the Jets (tough defense), vs Dallas, vs San Francisco and at Atlanta before our MNF showdown in early December.

It’s a great time to be a Seahawks fan. We have earned this!

Anybody got a gif of this? I missed it. Would love to see a gif of McDaniel's sack too

Yup, I'm enjoying the ride. This is one of those years you take a lot of long term memories from. Life is good.

If you post like you command, that Nimitz has gotta be one tight ship! :) I love the effusive optimism.

So, not to dwell on a negative, but rather to not leave ya hangin'...

I also saw that play EXACTLY as it happened -- before it happened. When they lined up with an empty backfield I said "No!" Then when I looked at the defense I said, "The linemen just have to make a straight line for Wilson." Snap. Boom. Denied.

But overall, the play calling was exceptional at exploiting the D and getting receivers the ball with room to move. Awesome stuff.

Thanks Greg.

We all hope that after your Nimitz tour you will be sending us notes from the Pentagon.
