Just reading Bill Barnwell on Grantland this morning and found this interesting tidbit.

.The Lions also project to have played the league's easiest schedule by the end of the season, which will come up a bunch if they make the playoffs. The Titans, Chiefs, Patriots, and Seahawks join them in the top five.

I just remember the beginning of the year thinking, "Holy Cow, we have a tough schedule."

Goes to show, that when the schedules come out very year, you can't read anything into it. There are always surprise over and under achievers. The games I thought would be our toughest we have pulled out and the games I thought we would handle, we have either lost or struggled to victory.

I know this is only a projection, but still found it interesting. Sorry if this was already posted

The Niners play some of the same teams but not the same schedule. Remember, the Seahawks, considered the best in the NFC, is playing a second place schedule.

This has been gone over before, but since people don't seem to get it.

The difference is 2 games. 2.

I.E. Not enough to make a difference.

Schedules really mean nothing except for west coast teams going east.

As we have all seen, any team can jump up and be competitive.

9 games in without a bye and our defense has carried this team damn near every week. They look tired and frankly predictable right now. The bye week looked great before the season, but now it feels like its 2 or 3 weeks later than ideal.

Agreed.

Specifically, the Hawks play the Vikings and the Giants... and the Whiners play the Packers and the Redskins.

Pretty much a wash.

The only differences are Packers vs. Vikings and Giants vs. Redskins.

That's it. Everything else is the same, except the times and locations.

I guess maybe SF does have a harder schedule, though... they have to play the Seahawks twice.

The NFL is the NFL, which means there are no easy games on the schedule (except the Jags).

People put too much stock in the schedule before the season starts, and even during the season because WHEN you play a team is far more important than who you play on a week to week basis. Injuries, momentum, motivations, how you're playing at that time etc are far more important.

Wont this become a problem if the Niners win out? They would win the strength of schedule tiebreaker.

You all will have an easy time with the Falcons. The Falcons are a depleted team they might have Roddy back for the game. The defense (like always) has problems getting to the Quarter back, they can't tackle, Mike Smith the head coach and Dirk Koetter the offensive coordinator are idiots when it comes to football. Your defense will have a field day with the O-line. Matt Ryan is absolute trash when he is pressured he can't run. I absolutely believe the 12's will take over the Georgia dome

The schedule at the beginning of the season looked like one of the hardest. We could not have known that teams like Atlanta and Houston were going to lay an egg. The guy can say an easy schedule now because of how things are going, but it didn't look that way at the beginning.

There's really no such thing as an easy schedule for a west coast squad with five 10 a.m. starts. That's a little less than a third of the schedule. Early morning in NY? Atlanta? Those aren't "easy" regardless of record. In the end, using W/L records isn't really enough to give a complete picture of strength-of-schedule -- we need more advanced metrics as well.

This really irritates me because the talking heads are having it both ways. Early in the year they say "oh those poor Seahawks have such a hard schedule". Now they turn around and say "oh those shitty Seahawks have the easiest schedule".

We just have to keep remembering that the Seahawks have only won a couple of games this season. All the rest the other team merely lost.

Don't know if you've watched the games this year but there is no easy schedule.

The Falcons are a talented team, we're playing at 10am and Matt Ryan is getting embarrassed in the media. 49ers and Saints shsh. We also play the Vikings and Giants, you can laugh but they each have a player that can turn the game (AP, Eli). I'd rather play the 49ers than the rams on the road, though we do get them at home. The Cardinals are the worst. Every team we play is going to play like it's the superbowl, it's just like the heat when the big 3 came, everyone wants to be talked about and the hawks are getting talked about this year.

Man, you know better than that. We terrible Seahawks had the help of the refs.
