Sherm definitely likes to run with a football in his hands. Probably playing out that WR fantasy Harbaugh sold him at Stanford, lol.
Sherman was a WR in high school and the first half of his college career, just FYI.

I was suggesting as much but apparently worded my post poorly. It was no secret Sherm had visions of playing the WR position, then Harbaugh "screwed him over" in making him a DB. As much as I despise Jimbo, the notion that he screwed Sherman over in that ordeal has to be the biggest misconception ever manifested. As a WR, he would probably resemble our own Sid Rice (IMO), as a DB, he has no equal. When that 100 mil contract gets inked, he needs to be sending Harbaugh X-mas cards and naming his kids after him. At least the boys.

IIRC, Sherman made the choice to become a DB to get on the field and away from Harbaugh. He felt like he couldn't be himself on offense so he asked David Shaw to switch. Shaw at first denied his request. It was Shaw who later allowed him to make the switch (Shaw is still a close friend and mentor to Sherm today).

I think this sums it up well

A year later, Sherman went back to Shaw with the request -- and got his wish.
"At receiver, you're limited. If the quarterback has a bad game, you're having a bad game," he explained. "But at cornerback, no matter what's going on, if your man doesn't catch the ball, you're having a pretty good day. You control your own destiny."

Ah...well screw the xmas cards, then. I like Shaw less than I like Harbaugh. But thanks for the clarification, Glove...and to you Roland as well. I forgot about Harbaugh bad mouthing Sherman before the draft. With that, WE should be sending Harbaugh Xmas cards, lol.
