Yeah, that's what I'm wondering. The only thing at stake is a very slim chance of getting HFA in the AL playoffs, and HFA isn't as big of a deal as it is in the NFL.

I'm sure that Cal will at least get his at bats, both for his personal quest as well as generating fan interest. But beyond there's two schools of thought. One is that you want to keep the pedal to the metal so as not to lose that momentum of having won 17 out of their last 18. After all, they're going to have a week of idleness courtesy of the first round bye. The other side of the coin is that you don't want to burn out your players, risk an injury, etc., in a completely meaningless game.

My guess is that Wilson will play it halfway. He'll let Munoz get some work, but not in all 3 games. Everyone but Woo pitches as scheduled, but all will be on a pitch count and a short rope.

Yep. I've posted it here a couple times somewhat recently, but the home/away splits for all of our starting pitchers is pretty extreme. They are much, much, better at home, and quite frankly, not very good on the road. As long as the #1 seed is possible, they gotta go for it, imo.

They have a pretty darn good road record over the past 3 weeks, too.

HFA isn't meaningless, but it only comes into play if the series goes 7 games. The other 6 are evenly split. That's not anywhere close to the importance HFA holds for an NFL playoff game. IMO it's not a big enough advantage to justify playing players, like Bryan Woo, who you normally wouldn't play.

They started resting players last night against the Rockies.

Probably a mixed bag. Won't want to disappoint the home crowd too much, and too much time off interferes with their edge and timing. Woo was playing catch, so he's coming along. No hard throwing yet, but loosening it up.

Roz needs ABs to regain his form. He's been on a bad streak. Julio and Polanco probably shouldn't take the whole weekend off.

Plus, playing the Dodgers we don't want to just roll over for them. Might be seeing them again in a couple of weeks.
