I watch UW and Grubb is running that offense scheme with Seattle. Grubb doesn't like running the ball. I'm SHOCKED Macdonald didn't fire his ass during the bye. I KNEW by this time in the season this forum would be talking about Grubb not running the ball, I KNEW IT. NOW people know why I didn't want his ass calling plays here. NOW you know why. His stupid run n gun offensive scheme is hindering our defense.
I was more indifferent than anything to Grubb's hire but I saw some of you all that were more vocally opposed and unfortunately, yeah, you guys were completely right. He's just completely unprepared for NFL level play calling.
It is too simplistic to say even average play from the interior of our line would make all the difference, all else being equal? Even Grubb
Unfortunately, yeah. Is the Offensive Line bad? Yeah. But they were bad last year. They were subpar (if not outright bad) in 2022. Our offense was much more coherent than this both years.
Grubb makes inexplicable decisions and is for some strange reason, completely incapable of taking progress he made in one game into the next. It's like we start from scratch how to put together an offense every single game.
And his sense of game situation is remarkably poor. The Vikings game was the final nail in the coffin for me. On the missed Field Goal drive, we crossed into Vikings territory, just outside of field goal range, 3 minutes on the clock. We want to secure Field Goal range, so we can be in control of the end of the game. We want to bleed clock. The Vikings are DEFENDING against the pass!
This is like, every single signal you can possibly ask for is saying 'Run the ball. Run the ball. Run... the damn... ball.'
So, of course, we pass... pass... pass. On the first play, why do we have 1 checkdown route and then 3 guys running routes over 10 yards deep? Like WTF? Yes, have a guy running that deep route for the go-ahead TD that maybe they blow coverage, but read the moment, dude! We are trying to control the clock!
The line problems, those are real. But there are so many issues that can't be explained away by O-Line issues. I want the guy to succeed. I love the idea that he came from the Huskies... but I think in order to earn another season there has to be some level of growth that just doesn't feel like it's there.
