I get a little annoyed when people automatically write off any report they don't like as "clickbait", but SI literally is mostly AI garbage now. They've made a mockery out of an industry icon and deserve all the criticism they get and more.

Connecting every Hawks free agent and every Hawks player approaching the end of their current deal to the Raiders is lazy. Aside from Pete not being the GM, theyve made a move for exactly one of our guys so far. Even when Pete was our GM, he didn't go to the USC pipeline anywhere near as much as people thought they would, and when they did, it was modest investments of mid/late draft picks and cheap free agent deals.
The 2010 draft comes to mind when everyone was assuming the Hawks were going to draft Taylor Mays who at the time was the workout warrior DK Metcalf of DBs that Pete knew first hand but went with Earl Thomas

Pete knew better

I've said this before. NOT CONCERNED WHASTSOEVER, who might be traded. As long as the compensation is equal or greater than the loss.
In this NFL world of constantly shifting team rosters, to grow equity in cap space/draft picks/talent is the best way to become competitive in the long game. With the caveat that those running the organization know the proper value of each transaction, and build towards specific goals.
In the case of Walker, if the value is there now, I'd personally grab it. So long as it completes the equation, and they have specific plans for the position.
Yes, an organization can accept a trade, because what is being offered is above expectations. But, of course, a plan for the future of that players position should be in place as well. Or it might be one step forward and one step back.
