That game was mostly about one thing....
Getting the bonus for any player that was close to collecting one. Especially Geno. What did he total, an extra 2 mil (edit: 6 mil thnx toffee) from that? As he hobbled around on one leg.

Love the win but don't read into it further than money. It was meaningless in some ways but for some players it was very meaningful.

If he had finished one yard short, do you think they wouldn't have given him that money? If the coaches thought it was better to get Geno more time under center for whatever reason, that's fine, but let's stop pretending this was something we had to do for the sake of his incentives because we're such a classy organization. He was getting that money regardless. Not sure why people keep ignoring that point. Itd be easier for you all to admit that you just wanted him to go out and get good stats.

We see teams rest starters every year. How often do you hear players complain about getting screwed out of incentives over it? If that kind of thing was happening do you think the players union would just stand by idly and say nothing?

I'm glad they won the last game and that Geno got all his incentives money.

With that said, there's something that I keep thinking about concerning these incentive contracts.

While looking back on this season concerning Geno, he seemed to be "forcing" a lot of his throws, taking sacks when there was nothing there, and possibly changing the play call at the line of scrimmage to shotgun. There were numerous times he showed his emotions when a receiver dropped a pass or ran a wrong route and would then smash a tablet over his head or sit on the bench pouting.

I'm not putting it ALL on Geno, but just wondering, seriously, if reaching his incentives could have played a major part in some of his miscues?
Did he have any incentives in years '22 and '23?

Be gentle...lol.

Here's to more "barely wins" in the future 🍺 🍺 🍺 🍺

I mean, we had a decade plus of them with Pete. Just sayin.

Speak for yourself. It was meaningless TO YOU. Not to everyone. It meant plenty to me. You go ahead and move on, I'm gonna' enjoy the win. This mentality makes ZERO sense to me. You didn't care if your team won or lost? What in the actual hell?
I did not care one way or the other yesterday. Nothing changes about needs and problems. I don't think anything can be taken away from yesterday's game other than the guys had pride to finish the jobs they started.

You fan how you want to fan.

There used to be no such thing as an easy game in this league

Exactly. Thank god that Grubb is ******* gone.

Yesterday changed nothing. It was a lackluster end to a very disappointing season. And honestly for anyone who thinks that Geno getting his bonuses was 'holy work' - pffffft. Limping around to collect your $$$ isn't a good look. Neither is fighting with fans in the stands. I liked me some Geno - but if we have an opportunity to move on, let's do it. And fix the Oline.

I just kept it in the background on Red Zone.

I've already registered my vote(s) on what I'd like to see happen this offseason. Grubb is the first piece. JS would be nice - but I don't think ownership has the stones to pull the trigger on that - or the caring level for that matter.

It's really quite easy. You'll know that you've been successful when home games stop looking like away games 'cause the fan base has figured out that we're just a mediocre team now, and selling their tickets wholesale.

Here's hoping that the offseason is better than, well, what we've been tolerating lately. Frankly I saw nothing 'encouraging' that we finally saw some TE activity yesterday, or a few other things. The idiot is gone. Let's move on. Flush this season. Twice.

A win that is a loss long term for the team.

Worse draft position
No new insights if Howell would be a playable starter
An excuse for JS not to do jack shit to improve the QB position

A loss really.
That win cost us exactly 1 spot in the draft...I think getting to 10 wins, finishing on a high not and trying to build a winning culture is worth far more than 1 spot in the draft.
