I feel like Pereda was trying to do too much there.
Haha
Haha
Feel bad for Miller.
MUH PIGGYBACK is one of the most cringe things this franchise has done and there's a lot of em
The execution is just horrid. 4 or 5 innings pre determined for the starter matter what is dumb.I'm not a fan of the piggyback either, and I really don't like pulling Miller when he's throwing a 1 hitter through 5 innings and his pitch count is in great shape. However, the piggyback has been very effective. This is the 3rd time now, and they've only given up 2 runs each time. If you don't win when you're pitching only gives up 2 runs, that's on the bats not doing enough.

That was bad but the decision to send Pereda home on the line out from Julio was even worse. We may have the worst 3rd base coach in the league.I don't think I've ever said this before, but that was a really dumb decision by Naylor to try to get the out at 2nd, which would have been close even with a good throw, instead of just taking the easy out at 1st. Unfortunately, that bad decision cost us the game tying run.
I feel the same way.Feel bad for Miller.

Nice way to finish the series. 2 walk off wins in the 10th.
Castillo gets the win after giving up the lead...twice.That's baseball.
Robles with the walk off RBI infield hit.
Some bumbling on defense again, but they overcame it in the end.

I like the Rock for the last 3 outs, much much more than say… Robbie Ray?Something I noticed today is that as a starter, the pitcher comes into a clean mound, while a reliever has to deal with where previous guys have been scratching and digging at it to shape it their way. I noticed Castillo not looking real happy with the condition of the mound when he first came in.
I'm ambivalent about the "piggyback" starts but I can see the advantages as well.
They're trying to keep Miller and Rock stretched out as starters in case an injury crops up. If Castillo, for example, just goes to the pen where he'll get one or two innings per use, he won't be able to immediately go back to the 5-6 he needs to go as a starter.
They're starting a 3 city road trip next weekend with 10 games in 10 days, where they'll go to a 6 man rotation.
This right here. I don't think anyone likes the piggyback but when the 5 and 6 starters in the rotation are combining for a sub 2 era and saving a thin bullpen innings I don't think we can complain to much.I'm not a fan of the piggyback either, and I really don't like pulling Miller when he's throwing a 1 hitter through 5 innings and his pitch count is in great shape.
