With Alvin Kamara, Chris Olave, and Rashid Shaheed on the roster? Yeah, I'd think they would be. But we don't have that.

Besides, they stacked up points against terrible Carolina and Dallas defenses in the first two weeks, then lost three straight while scoring 12, 24, and 13 points BEFORE the injuries started happening.
Our skill guys aren't that far off, Walker, JSN, Kupp aren't bad at all. Shaheed? Really? At this stage I'd argue Walker is equal to Kamara, JSN may be better than Olave and Kupp is as good or better than Shaheed.

This is a pretty good contract for the Seahawks. They can get out of it after 1 season. The only way this would suck is if we had a situation like Russ / Flynn which would actually be the best scenario we could possibly hope for. Then they'd have to eat that first year salary barring a trade. At that point I don't think anyone would be complaining.

That would be delish. It's really simple, Geno didn't wanna' be here. He thought he was worth a lot more than he actually is. He got his feels hurt, he got sent packing. It was funny when Russ got sent packing, and this is even funnier.
And his short "goodbye" to the fans was meh at best. Dueces.

Yeah the Seahawks lack the speed to match what the Saints had before injuries took their toll.

Walker and JSN are not slow but Kamara, Olave and Shaheed are on another level.

There’s no debating that that Seahawks got younger under center by making the swap, and now the terms of the Darnold contract have been made public, allowing the debate about how much cap space may or may not have been saved in the coming years to begin.

Without wasting time, here is what the contract includes:

  • 2025: Base salary: $5.3M, Signing bonus: $32M, Workout bonus: $200k, Other bonus: $1.5M
  • 2026: Base salary: $27.5M, Workout bonus: $200k
  • 2027: Base salary: $35.5M, Workout bonus: $200k
  • 2028: Void year added for cap purposes
  • 2029: Void year added for cap purposes

Of course, what fans want is to know how much cap space that structure will use, so here are the cap numbers by season

  • 2025: $13.4M ($5.3M base salary, $6.4M signing bonus proration, $1.5M other bonus, $200k workout bonus)
  • 2026: $34.1M ($27.5M base salary, $6.4M signing bonus proration, $200k workout bonus)
  • 2027: $42.1M ($35.5M base salary, $6.4M signing bonus proration, $200k workout bonus)
  • 2028: $12.8M ($6.4M signing bonus proration, $6.4M 2029 signing bonus proration which accelerates into 2028 upon contract voiding)

Only a 32M signing bonus?

Dude....

I think Sam did the Hawks a favor as much as the Hawks did themselves a favor with this contract.

Also, Sam didn't get all the additional escalators and incentives Geno got, plus they tacked on a couple of void years.

The cap hits look okay.

Not sure we'll get there (depends on how it goes with Sam) but even his 2027 money is probably going to be middle of the pack.
