Damn, you're right. The timing of this makes it look like he wont play for anyone until 27 now. That's a shame. Was cool seeing him do good after leaving NY

Guy is tough, playing with a broken leg and now an Achilles, I hope he heals and someone gives him a real chance when he can come back and be a team just needing a QB.

I'm in the minority. I've always thought he was a solid QB on a crap team. He outplayed geCHOKE last year too.

Danny done pretty well for himself so don't shed too many tears lol

This.

Sucks that he got injured, but he's already made over $120 million in career earnings so far (according to Spotrac.com). That's generational wealth. He's set for life and so are his kids and grandkids as long as he's not a complete idiot with his money.

And the nickname Danny Dimes is most excellent. Hate to see it - before Darnold I was hoping we might take a shot at him.

Probably cost himself 10s of millions due to that injury as he's likely out next year too and the Colts will need to get someone now.

He's on the team the rest of the NFL year (until March), right? Does an injured player get any rehab support at all after his contract is up or is that all on him?

I heard the Colts tracked down 44 years old Philip Rivers to rescue their season. 5 years into retirement? No biggie...

He just lost a 100 million or more...
Not only that...he lost a chance to be a long-term starter.

He's now (at best) going to be just a career backup going forward and all because of a non-contact injury.

That sucks, man.

I feel that "Torn achilles" thing and immediately thought of '99 with Vinny Testaverde. bleh.

He is a year younger than Sherman was, when he tore his Achilles. Sherman tore his in November, and returned to play in the next preseason. He was never the same player, but the cornerback position places a higher requirement on Achilles health than QB.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him starting in the NFL next year, and wouldn't be opposed to bringing him in here, if it looks like Milroe is not on a trajectory to take over in 2027.

I don't think he was ever on the trajectory to take over in 2027 if Sam was even remotely DECENT as QB here (which he has been more than that by a mile). Only if Sam crashed and burned from day 1 could I have seen Milroe being shoved out there in 2027 (maybe sooner).

Depends on his injury clause in his contract. If he has an injury settlement, it is all on the amount paid for the settlement.
