This to me is a symptom of bandwagon and/or newbie fans that don't quite yet understand the game within the game element quite yet. Seems to be an effect of a winning team, even though I recall it happening in much lesser degree years past as well.

There are still a ton of tickets that go to people that rarely go to games. Companies giving them out and such.
I had a friend ask me all sorts of questions last year before their first NFL game EVER!
You've lived in Seattle 30 years............. never been? NOW you go? Bandwagon at it's best.

It was annoying at times but not a big deal. "Be quiet, our offense is trying to operate. Shhhhhhhhhhh."

Yes a lot of stadiums in the NFL do that . it might sink into them

During the Hawks/Texans game last year, I recall them running an animation with a bull going to sleep (or something like that) on the big-screens when their offense went on the field. Don't the Hawks do that too at the C-Link?

It's not that loud. If our guys can't function at the clink then they will be screwed on the road. Let the fans have their fun, they aren't hurting our chances of success on offense.

yep, 2006 was an effort each game to calm down the crowd while we had the ball.. I can remember some tools trying to get a wave going in the 4th Q in a tight game versus the Rams (thanks for the PR TD Burleson).

that's how it starts. Been to a 49ers game at the stick? That's how it ends up.

We were winning so big last year that the crowd just helped the team get ready for next weeks away game :)

Oh well. Our guys will function just fine. This isnt tennis or golf.

The fans pay their money, let them have their fun. There is enough of us that dont make noise on offense that is not an issue.

Noticed a disturbing trend in last year's games and it carried over into this past pre-season game - our home fans being loud on offense.

I realize there's a lot of hype and excitement about this team but quite honestly it's frustrating as hell to be at the game and watch our offense take the field and then hear all the fans try to get the 'sea! hawks!' chant going or just yelling in general. The team/stadium didn't help itself this way last year by installing the phish "wilson" prompt.

Please do us all a favor when you attend games and tell eveyrone to shut up on offense before we sound like niner fans who yell when their team is on offense and go sip mimosas when they are on D.

Thank you. this has been a Hawknballs[COPYRIGHT SIGN] public service announcement.

But I thought stadium noise wasn't an issue? Shoe meet other foot!
sorry, fog horn and douchy guys yelling ahoooo ahoooo ahooooo! You don't get to comment...

When I'm at a game and that stuff starts, I find the group and yell at them "Quiet please! Men at work!" and they generally get the idea...

Especially on the first offensive play of the game which should just be a scripted handoff anyway. Unless you're Peyton Manning trying to be cute and clever calling audibles and adjustments on that first play...

And I liked the Wilson chant.

I really did notice that last night while watching the game...I said how odd that we are so loud when we have the ball. I'm hard of hearing and could really notice it.

agreed a lot of SEA HAWKS chants while on offense last night. Gotta keep reminding people just to keep it down, and save the noise for great plays and our Defense!

It's a catch-22 .. I would be willing to bet most of the people yelling when the offense is on the field are new fans, and it's great to have new fans provided they are in this for the long haul and not just the next handful of years while the team is on top of the world.

But new fans are also easy to coach.. so us long timers can easily correct this.

Not everyone is able to afford a ticket to an NFL game. I know when I lived in the area, I could only afford Mariner's tickets. I've never been to a Hawks game (hope to some time soon), but I don't think that makes me a Bandwagon fan as I've bought merchandise, watched games, and stayed loyal even though there have been some terrible Seahawks teams over the years.

And don't forget this was a PRE-SEASON game, a game most regular STH's don't attend and either give or sell them to friends or family creating a lot of newbies in the stands.

I will admit though the last few seasons during regular season games it has been a little frustrating when the offense is on the field and OUR fans are getting so loud you can tell it's affecting the offense when Russell has to motion the crowd to shut up.

If this crowd could ever get as educated as the Kingdome crowds were as to when to start to cheer and when to shut the hell up, we could be even more of a factor than we are now.

I will live and die by this statement made by I think Bill the Beer-man many years ago, "If they can't call the play, they can't run the play" basically meaning the volume needs to be at max when they are in the huttle trying to call the play or plays.

Anyway's,

GO HAWKS!!!

You are talking to a guy that believes that if everything that you own is not 100% Seahawks authentic, right down to the game day jockstrap, then you are are trying hard enough to demonstrate loyalty.

Some of my Mariner brothers and sisters will find severe irony in this post.

You dont have to be able to afford hawk tickets to know that you should be quiet on offense. I have only been to a handful of games but I watch every Sunday and I know better.

The "bandwagon fans" that are being referenced here are the ones that could care less that the seahawks existed until last year, now they fill up facebook with "seahawk blue fridays", snag corporate tickets because its cool, and yell and shout when the hawks have the ball because they dont know football.
