Could this win, perversely, help the run game?

I'm just spitballing here but it seems to me our run game is failing because of 2 (possibly 3) issues:

1 - Our woeful inability to run block

2 - Our passing game for the most part has been pretty ineffective and thus the opposition defence can put pressure on our ability to to run.

3 - Rubbish running backs. I'm less convinced about this as our RBs have had previous success and I think the love child of Walter Payton and Barry Sanders would probably struggle.

So bearing in mind point number 2 does last nights result and performance mean the opposition will have to respect our passing game much more now? Will a shift in focus take pressure off the run game?

Also could the X's and O's guy possibly point out why our running game has been dismantled by pretty much everyone, is it just too predictable or are the same mistakes happening i.e, just not good enough?

Well let's hope something works b/c our RBs combined for a net 3 yards. Lacy = 0, Rawls = -1, McIssac = 6, and Lockett = -2.

What a woeful show of futility and incompetence from the running game. The run blocking is awful and the RB are finding zero room to run tinto though the patience at the POA seems lacking.

I hope that with the focus upon stopping the passing game that will now be an opposition's key preparation there may be some new softness in their run D that may allow the O to become somewhat less one dimensional.

I'm certainly not complaining about 41 points but when your QB out gains your whole RB corps by a factor of 10 fold something is wrong.

But.

Every admires the patriots for changing the game plan to shy away from opponents strengths. 41 points with no run game is more 2012 thru 2016 Saints 7-9 type of season.

It is frustrating to watch though.

After yesterday I'm completely done with Lacy he is just soooooooo slow. If they are going to try to run out of shotgun every time then I don't think lacy is the answer.

Oh heck I'm certainly not complaining about the ability of the O to rack up 41 points. However, the run game needs to be fixed and the answers may be in different personnel at RB or a new look at run blocking from the "Running Game Coordinator" or Asst. HC. Hopefully things will change b/c Washington is seemingly far better at pass D than Houston.

I think it might. I saw some woeful blocking on the left side though.

Pocic not getting up to a linebacker. TE's who do not understand how to break down and just get in the way. And RO who as we all know got owned by Clowney in the run game.

Let's not forget that we HAD a really promising starting RB and he got injured and lost for the season. We're playing with reserves right now.

Lacy was just a completely unremarkable pickup. I was bored the moment I saw he'd been signed. Not a single interesting thing about him at this point in his career, and certainly not what we need behind this line.

I'd still like to believe in Rawls, but he's lost it in the head. Turned into Christine Michael.

People would like to get riled up about missing out on the Alex Collins train, but the fact remains that he didn't play well enough in the preseason to snatch the job. He got on in Baltimore behind a better line and without all the competition - good for him. But Pete and John's decision to let him go was understandable.

It's frustrating - Pete and John did a ton of work to deepen the RB roster and it still came to nothing.

Came here to say that Rawls looks slow. Maybe he will never be the same after the injuries? Either way, we know Lacys not fast. And now Rawls looks slow. More JD please.

Not sure it is just this game, I mean we have had 295 of more yards via the pass in 4 games this year and back to back 300+, 4 of our last 5. I agree with the sentiment and as I had said once, let's use the pass to set up the run.

He dances too much behind the line. He misses holes however how much of a hole they were. Lacy? He is slow and needs time to pick steam up.

Butterfingers Rawls is just way too hyper and impatient.

I think Rawls has gone one flew over the cuckoo's nest.

Did you see him after that missed catch in the endzone flopping around like a fish out of water? Wow dude, take a mad dog downer before the game or something.

That and chirping at Clowny after he tried to take his knees out was pretty pathetic.

Right in front where we sit too. Didn't mean to hit you in the hands son. Also, last week, only the 2nd screen pass of the season. He has 2 blockers in front of him, could have easily had another 10-15 yards. What's he do? He runs full speed right thru the blockers and gets hit.

Out here
I'd like to see what Mike Davis can do. Can't be any worse than what we've been subjected to sans Carson. I don't care if it's at the expense of Rawls or Lacy. Just promote him. Dang, I really miss Carson though.

I'd like to see some designed FB runs out of i-formation like we used to do with Mike Rob. Mix things up a bit.

I can't understand why it's so difficult to run block. It was my understanding that run blocking is much easier than pass blocking, yet our run game coordinator can't seem to get the run game going. The run game coordinator is Tom Cable. Which now we know why simple things seem so complex. Anything that Tom gets his hands on seems to regress.

Collins wouldn't be good behind this line.

I’ve gotten used to the flopping and generally spazzing out (I have a 4 yo) but talking smack after committing a blatant personal foul was particularly shameful.

What was the timetable for Carson? I thought I remember hearing he had a chance to return from IR? I believe by rule he has to be out at least 8 weeks before he can return. That would be against SF, one week before the Philly game. I'm not sure if he can practice or not though before the 8 weeks.
