Falcons with a top 5 draft pick, I don't like the sound of that. I feel for Tony Gonzalez, I guess thats why you just stay retired.

Thanks for the grats and the classy post. I've never hated the Falcons, even after they beat us. You are right, you guys won quite a few close games last year; good teams find a way to win, and it's not always pretty.

I'd hate to see the Falcons fire Mike Smith. As far as I know, he has nothing to do with personnel, and he's hamstrung with his roster; you guys turned over a few guys last year and actually got worse. Trufant looks to be good for you.

Anyway it looked yall wanted to win as bad as our sorry excuse for a team wants a top 5 draft pick. Looks like we have no chance at even having a winning season this year and with the exception of our young guys no one on our team even cares. I was never happy about the SJax signing, i wanted a younger RB out of the draft to go with our 2 backs that are actually half way decent (Snelling and Quizz)..

With a great coach like Smith, a top 10 QB in Ryan, and the best tandem of WR's in the league I have no doubt that the Falcons can compete again. Your problem is on the defensive side of the ball. WAY too many holes to fill. But.........if your GM focuses the draft and hits on a couple free agents I think the Falcons can rise again. Maybe not 13-3 home field advantage and one play away from SB compete, but still a quality team.

This is possible IF you get help on D as Sarge said and IF Ryan isn't pressured consistently. Dude is really poor against even a semblance of a pass rush. I know all pocket passers don't do as well when rushed but he seems unable to get the ball off quickly to counteract a rush. I am not convinced he will ever be the guy to get you guys to a Super Bowl. Guess we'll see cuz with that contract he's yours for the foreseeable future.

The biggest problem Ryan is having this year is he has no running game to take pressure away, they just bring the heat on Ryan knowing there is no threat of a run game. Even John Elway had to have a run game to win a Super Bowl. That being said some hot names hitting the market in Atlanta this offseason are BJ Raji and Michael Oher, Incognito was a hot name until the recent incident. Ryan had an excellent game against Tampa Bay a few weeks ago and just hasnt shown up since. I know Ryan can be good to great but if he doesn't have some kind of threat of a running game no QB can be good although Ryan played great last year without really a running game, defenses adjusted and he doesn't have Roddy, Julio, and Tony all on the same field to leave Harry Douglas wide open.

The scary part for opposing teams is our young defense is actually started to gel and look pretty good, I know we gave up over 400 yards to your offense but when our offense is going 3 and out every possesion our defense is going to wear down, plus our FS shouldnt really count as a player since he's hot garbage. Atlanta should be looking to replace Decoud with a FA FS or possibly a draft pick, Asante will be replaced with Alford who is looking good with Trufant on the other side, Our LB core as it stands now is looking like Spoon, CJ Mosely a hot name in the draft right now, and Warrilow who has been a diomand in the rough. Our DL as it stands is looking like Osi, Babs, BJ Raji a hot name in the FA market right now, Massequi/Clowney a hot name in the draft. I personally think BJ Raji could be our missing piece on the DL, if the middle of our DL draws extra attention Massequi will eat QBs alive.

The plus side of this season is next season most of the good players from the 2012 squad will be back along with the not so good players replaced by top 5 draft picks and hot names in the FA market, also we picked up some pretty good TEs to replace Tony who have shown promise when they have been given a chance to play. Sad to say the mid way point of this season but i'm excited for next season.

You guys still have a decent core but have been hit by the perfect storm of bad luck this season, might be for the better though. Shows where your guys weaknesses really are, and you will be able to make some serious off season moves and come back one of the better teams int he NFC next year.

You guys should look into drafting Bishop Sankey in the 2nd/3rd round if you need a RB. He has been killing it up here at the University of Washington and would be a great feature running back.

Anyways keep your head up as I think next year will be much better, you guys don't need to rebuild you just need a established running game and maybe a few decent defensive picks in the draft.

I hope, for the OP's sake, that this isn't Atlanta's "2008." That's when the solid Hawks team started to skid, but it was rationalized that injuries were the cause. Then 2009 happened.

Out of curiosity...only asking because I don't understand it....

Why does everyone get excited when a guy makes a "classy" post? Is it because he is complimenting the hawks and you love that? I get much more entertainment when someone rage posts after a loss in the enemies forum. Help me understand....thanks in advance.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I get excited because it's rare. Most of the time other team's fans are idiots and jackasses.

So when someone does come in here gracious and complimentary, I think we should have the manners to reciprocate.

i was really hoping to pick up a work horse in the third round and that sounds like a good name.

Perhaps because we are all fans of the game, regardless of who we root for? We love our team, he loves his. To show respect to the fans of your opponent, unless they are in the NFCW or the Redskins, is being classy. When we win, it is nice to hear it from other fans that they are happy for us that our team won. This does not mean they are happy for a loss, but they respect us as fans that appreciate wins, much like themselves.

Now if this was a Niner fan, I would laugh in their face and ridicule them, but other teams we do not have in our division, and act like humans, I for one respect them coming here, when they would probably rather shut the computer down and not say a thing.

It is called class as a human being.

respect bro, yall knocked the saints out of the playoffs with a 7-9 record. we love yall in atlanta lol. Dont forget the 49ers and Rams also used to kick our ass all the time when we were an NFCW team and yall were in the AFC. When were relevant yall are just the seachickens but when were not relevant yall are our bird brothers from another mother :)

I doubt this is the case. Atlanta has legit talent. The 2009 Seahawks had almost zero, seriously.

I feel bad for the Falcons this year, injury and age is derailing a lot of their potential. I definitely think Mike Smith deserves more time, and I'm glad to see they're keeping him on.
