The NFL does not give the award. Several organizations do.

You're think of the AP CPOTY award. AP awards are the most prestigious and the one everybody is referring to.

Same with MVP, DPOY, OPOY, DROY, OROY, etc.

Yes the "AP" award is the officially recognized awards by the NFL, but this is still a cool award. We will find out if he wins the AP Comeback Player of the Year award (which he should) during the NFL Honors in February.
