Does Byron Maxwell not count?

Maxwell sucked when he came back.

He was no Richard Sherman, but he beat out Lane and everybody else for that spot. He was at least a decent guy who knew the system and could press.

What's your take on Sweezy?

IIRC end of career Maxwell was a late season injury addition.

That's dead on; he got brought in after Sherman went down and they definitely were able to use him because he knew the team/scheme. He got put on IR last year before they had a chance to see if he could contribute in the season. They got six starts out of him for less than $400,000 in 2017, and only lost $500,000 on a signing bonus in 2018.

He's a $4 million cap hit this year and $5.5 million next year for the Cards, so that wouldn't be surprising. He made just under $2 million last year, which included a $500,000 incentive, started 15 games, and was a seemingly good contributor of a much improved group. I'd consider that someone who was brought back to the team who was successful.

McGruff is right in that generally when you bring back players who have gone other places it doesn't work out well. It has happened, but the players are generally older and more beat up by the time you get them back.

But if you bring in somebody like McDonald and it's reasonably inexpensive because you don't have the talent at the spot, and they know how to work within the team/system, it can work. I wouldn't call Maxwell's return really successful, but he also served a decent purpose when injuries kicked in for not a lot of money.

The point was when have we ever brought back our OWN former players and had it work.

Excellent call

Although with the caveat that he never really played for us the first time around.

It is. How bout this guy.

I can't think where it's ever worked.

John Randle, Ricky Waters, Warren Moon? There more than just A few more too.

Talent just needs to find the right combination of need and opportunity.

Warren moon sucked as a Seahawk. There is no argument for him. Same as Rice. Neither one did anything to contribute and make the team better.

Memory problems? Warren Moon had a really good first season with the 'Hawks in 1997. Almost 4,000 yards and a Pro Bowl invite, and even MVP of the Pro Bowl. He made it fun to be a Seahawks fan that year. The next year, not so much, but Moon's first year as a Seahawk was golden. Agreed, JRice was a waste for his short time with the Hawks.

McDonald was overrated when he was here. He sucked against the run and only had two sacks of his own accord. The rest were clean up sacks as the QB avoided Clemons, Avril, and Bennett. He was practically gifted 3.5 sacks in 2013. He also didn't play last year and if he has a future in the NFL, it's vet minimum and will have to earn a roster spot.

Let's face the facts. This time of year ; any player that is good--young--and healthy ; has already got a job elsewhere . The only players still floating around are mostly older damaged retreads .

Then it's good for us, we'll have place for better players and we'll be at an advantage should we play against the Wildcats in the near future!
