This goes hand and glove with the idea that John and Mike are not necessarily judging the OL guys based on 2024. I thought Cross took a step back last year, but with the coaching and scheming not being up to snuff, it isn't necessarily surprising.

I'm looking forward to seeing Grey Zabel line up beside Sweet Feet. He's unlike any of the previous left guards Charles has seen line up beside him. Two exceptional big athletes side by side. That's should rekindle a level of tandem chemistry we haven't seen for some time.

Looking forward to seeing that talent merge.

Cross is a good, serviceable LT. He was never worth being taken 9th overall, as being picked 9th should mean you are the leading example of the position.

But as I said, good so picking him up on the 5th year fixes short term headaches and keeps the line consistent. I think they’ll be looking towards 2026 for a replacement tackle prospect.
Again, Cross has been much better than the 2 Lineman picked before him in that draft at picks 6 and 7 (Cross was 9). You can say he should be a world beater but reality is much different. He has been good and the pick was a good one even if he isn't an all pro yet. He is still just 24 by the way.

Unfair to the kid really, we had Walter Jones here, we think of LT's in his image and play, few will meet that standard.

Good move. Now they have another year to work out that multi-year extension. :)

Apparently got hurt on the winning FG and is being evaluated. Doesn't sound promising and MM was being cagey about it.

yep was my immediate concern seeing him pull up after that play. Listening to Mike, the vibes are not good at all. Keeping everything crossed [no pun int]

So what happens now?

Who replaces him if he can't go?

Do we put Olu where Cross is or something?

We should have just transition tagged him, let him test the market and just match whatever he finds. You wouldn’t even have to let the head coach know.

Just kidding, no effing imbecile would do that to a key component of the offensive line with a Super Bowl competitive team.

Letting a 1st rd pick get to a 5th year option is not a good sign it screams that you don’t think highly of the player. The big question is what the Seahawks will do after the option

Kinda feels like the Russell Okung situation all over again. Pretty good players but not world beaters. Pay or nay. Backfired the first time. Went with George Fant and finally had to trade picks for Duane Brown. But Schnieds doesn't play around with Left Tackle.
