It appears that Harbaugh is going to try to install a 1997 Nebraska Cornhusker type offense.

I'm not sure that is going to be very effective in the current NFL. Add that to the fact that their roster is down on talent - at least on the Offensive side - have a gimpy Herbert - and it looks bleak for the Chargers

One thing for certain is that it will be fantastic to watch Harbs blow up on the sidelines every week. It is one of my favorite activities.

As long as he doesn't pick his nose again on tv we won't have to watch any video meme type stuff but a once through will be mandatory

I don't know anything about that. I'm not sure that makes any type of sense , not that I have a grip on coordinating an NFL offense. I figured Harbaugh would use a quick pass style /heavy run.

2010-2014 SF style. It worked pretty well for him. I am not a fan of his but he does have my respect. He wins everywhere he goes , and he wins quickly.

I doubt it will be any different this time.

You may well be correct- and he does win wherever he coaches. But he needs a TON of upgrades before that will work in Chargerland.

But DAMN - I love seeing Harbs get all upset and get his khakis all ruffled. His tantrums are legend.

That first clip...just wow. That call was worse than what Mario Cristobal did with Miami against Georgia Tech last season.

The second clip...funny, but the narrator needs to cool it with the hyperbole. "He nearly sheds every layer"...he only took of his jacket & headset, that's not nearly all his clothes. 🙄

Lets take a deeper look at the Chargers roster and lets start with the offense:

Palmer is always a deep threat up the seem as a pro and nothing has changed regarding what I have seen from him. Throw in the rookie McConkey who should have been drafted much higher. Chark is okay but nothing to write home about as a WR. And they have high hopes for Johnston. WR is obviously not the strength of the offense but they have enough versatile pieces to threaten underneath and over the top. I can not emphasize enough how Palmer is sneaky good at attacking a seem with go or post routes.

Now at TE they have Dissly and Hurst where both are sneaky good as pass catchers. For an offense that will be all about play action they will be involved in a lot of the offensive scheme.

Edwards/Dobbins are going to grind out yards as that is what they are grinders and that is what Harbaugh wants.

Herbert was already playing in vanilla style offenses before the arrival of Harbaugh but I think that new OC Roman is going to throw in wrinkles that Herbert has not been able to show case as a pro so far.

That offensive line on paper is the Chef's Kiss and maybe the Patriots should have drafted Alt over Maye.

Defensively, their front seven if they stay healthy is going to be very ferocious. Meanwhile their secondary has always been uber talented but that defensive front has to try to do more.

Overall the Chargers are more talented than people think as ex GM Telesco didn't leave the cupboard bare. However, the Chargers due to cap realities were not able to churn the roster as much as Harbaugh probably want to do. But that is okay because it allows them a season to evaluate he existing talent under the new coaching staff.

They were 5-12 last year and had significant offensive losses this off season. They have a QB with plantar fasciitis - which is a lingering issue by all accounts. Your analysis is not unreasonable - but seems pretty optimistic. I don't see how you can give up Ekeler, Williams and Allen and replace them with also rans and rookie draft picks. They were ranked the 2nd best trio in all of football last year (granted it was by ESPN). I don't see how their additions can overcome the losses. A healthy Herbert is their best shot at relevance - and (as much as it pains me) an upgrade at Head coach. Man, their last coach made some truly boneheaded calls to lose them games.

I think that new coaching will help the Chargers more than adding talent in the long run. I do agree the talent drain on offense is more noticeable than the defense. The defense did lose talent too but I think they are far better off to change over that unit anyways.

They have to fix the mindset, for some reason that team has had the ability to Coug almost every season whether or not they are good or not,
