The Broncos took play calling duty away from Hatchet in mid-season, and The Jets too. The Eagles took play calling away from Sanjay (typo?), again in mid-season. In toffee's mind, we may have to take that play-calling duty away from Grubb, Our offense clearly regressed and is in disarray. I suspect Grubb never earned the respect of the offense players, and he may have lost their trust by now.

What's your opinion?

I was never a fan of Grubb, he has his college play book and is trying to use it in the nfl. Sadly I just dont see his offense working. If we take away the play calling from him what will his job be. We might be looking at a one and done if that happens.

This is an over-reaction to one game. Sean McDermott is a defensive mastermind, and he had a good game plan against the Seahawks. Still, if Connor Williams doesn't snap the ball over Geno's head or step on Geno's foot, it could have been a tied game at half-time. If you give a team like the Bills a lead, they will kill you. They have more 20-point wins than any other NFL teams this year.

There is nothing "college-like" about Grubb's offense. The problems with the running game are maddening, but run fits are no different conceptually in college than in the NFL. Grubb does seem to be using zone run concepts more than man blocking, which makes sense given our lack of talent on the offensive line, but that inside zone doesn't seem to be working at all. They don't seem to be creating even a small crease to run through. Maybe more outside zone concepts?

The Seahawks' offense is still in the top-10 in points scored and yards gained. Not saying the offense is great, because it has major problems on the O-line, but the real problem is the defense.

We went to power run plays early in the year but they seem to be allergic to it now , not sure why coaches change what worked

If you mean man blocking, I think we continue to try that, but we aren't able to move the opposing D-line even an inch. Honestly, on some run plays the last few weeks, you couldn't even tell if they were trying to zone or man block because the entire O-line was pushed backwards into a jumble. I really think the run issues are more a problem of execution rather than design.

They had the luxury of taking those playcalling duties away because they had the foresight to hire experienced guys on their offensive staff who could take that duty on.

We have a lot of guys who haven't done the job before. Charles London would be a prime candidate, but he would also be a first time playcaller who has never been able to successfully land an OC gig. Jake Peetz is another option but his playcalling experience amounts to a bad, bad year at LSU in which they... get ready for this... couldn't run the damn ball.

We may need to make a change at OC after the season is over. We just lost to the Bills. The Bills. A Super Bowl contender. We should be under no illusions that we were gonna match up with them at this point of the rebuild. We've got games coming up against the Rams (x2), Cardinals (x2) and Bears that are all very winnable games. Who knows maybe we even catch the Niners, Vikings or the Packers off guard. That puts us in that 9-8 or 11-6 window where I figured we'd be after this season. No worse then they were last season, maybe slightly better but with hope for the future. The only bad loss I see so far is the Giants game.
