When I've gone to actual NFL games, I've never given anyone the finger. Not the other team's players, not the other team's fans, not even the refs. Nobody.
At the Seahawks games in Foxborough in 1984 and '86, I'd have been risking life and limb by doing it, plus even if there had been no risk, like if we'd been in a separate Seahawks section or something, my dad would definitely not have approved if I'd done something that rude. As it was, I annoyed the crap out of the Patriots fans all around us just by rooting for the Seahawks. In the '86 game, I kept asking the Seahawks to put pressure on Eason (the Patriots' QB at the time - you may remember him from when the '85 Bears smeared the Patriots all over the field in Super Bowl XX), because then he'd give us the game. When Eason made one big completion, a guy in the row in front of us turned around and yelled in my face "PRESHA," which is Masshole for "pressure."
At my first Seahawks home game in 2019, giving somebody the finger just never occurred to me to be a thing to do. I think I even contained the bad language when Wilson threw an interception. It's a family environment, and it would have felt inappropriate to flip the bird or curse, even though there weren't any kids really close to me.
But at home, where I'm alone with the TV and maybe my S.O.? Oh, then very bad language gets used a lot and the middle fingers come out to play. Not always, though. For example, no middle fingers this last Sunday. The Seahawks were in clear control of that game, I've got nothing against the Chargers (side note: weird that all these years after the Seahawks left the AFC West, I still dislike the Broncos and Raiders more than I dislike the Gold Diggers and Rams, but I really never had anything against the Chiefs and Chargers), and I didn't see them doing anything dirty during the game. So the middle fingers didn't come out.
During the Chargers game, I did say the false start on Blythe was a "bull$#!+ call," then when they failed to restart the clock and forced the Seahawks to waste a time out, I said "more bull$#!+," and then finally, when Geno and Lockett gave the best on-the-field response to the BS possible, I shouted something like "yes! First down, bitches!"
But no one-finger salutes for anyone, not even the refs.
Now, during the season opener, on the other hand, I was flipping many birds at many Broncos players (and even some fans

I know. Given my advanced age, I really ought to grow up.
