It's what they said in pre-game. They said next year, but I guess that means now or at least soon.

Question: should the team try for a decent muti-year contract instead of arbitration? He'll get a big raise either way. It's entirely possible he doesn't want to go that route, but should they try?

If Cal doesn't get resigned that will be the straw that breaks the camels back for me as a fan. We put up with a lot of BS as M's fans. But if there's not a huge effort to keep these huge home grown pieces it will actually be the first time that I actually consider tuning out. They just have to keep some of these guys. If they don't, It will be a hard breakup.

Last off-season was the final straw for me. Had zero emotional investment this season.

This ownership has zero, not .01% but zero, interest in creating a winning franchise. Their only goal is to bring in as much revenue with as little investment as possible, winning baseball has proven to be irrelevant when it comes to milking all they can out of Mariners fans.

They should sign Cal to a long term deal, but wouldn’t surprise me if they lowball him and then sell us on moving on from him because of Harry Ford or some excuse.

But like everyone is saying, it doesn’t matter because of the owner. The fans will continue to show up. We will all be here at the start of next season, excited and hopeful. By early September fans will get upset, and then we do it all over again.

Seattle fans are soft, and for the most part, the city is full of a bunch of rich people who either want to take their family to the game or young people who want to go out and drink at the game.

Have you seen the LookoutLanding community? Those guys are true M’s fans, but also the reason why Stanton can get away with what he does. They will show up and support no matter what.

I wish Mariner fans were tougher on the team. Perhaps come up with a plan? Find a game and print out shirts that say sell the team and hand them out before the game. Put up billboards asking Stanton to sell the team. I was part of a Sonics forum that put up money to fly a banner before a game that said, “Fire Wally Walker.” They also did a protest before the game.

Ms fans are too nice though.

Cal is a Scott Boras client. Boras makes pretty much all of his clients go into free agency (see Juan Soto). There is very little chance of an extension with Cal unless he changes his agent.

Im tired of their b.s.

Mariner ownership is happy with the status quo of scratching and clawing their way to the middle . As long as the faithful fans show up and put their butts in the seats they'll do just enough to stay quasi relevant then say " were close ...wait until next year"
