Agree on throwing darts for #1 QB Picks....I guess being a little guy playing on a college juggernaut team is not the same as being a little guy in a league of juggernaut players. I had him at #1, fooled me.
self doubt, for a #1, man that’s gotta be the killer, league has no way to measure how these high picks are really going to respond to NFL level adversity, they just flat out don’t know. throw darts.
Let's just look at all of the top 7 QB picks that busted so quickly in the last ten years. Tons.
As you note, NFL is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLANET than College and especially on a 'Bama team!
I posted this below elsewhere but this is where it should be:
There's been a lot of tape and commentary on the tape for the first 2 games of Bryce Young this year.
I like this one the most.
This video notes that Bryce young:
1. Drops back with shoulders parallel to the line of scrimmage / hashmarks - like waking backwards - and not with shoulder perpendicular like other QBs. This is likely because he can't see well and needs/wants more vision for the field.
2. When he throws he goes up to his tip-toes to release the ball on many occasion - this alters the mechanics and causes him to throw in a bad and inaccurate way.
3. He doesn't step up / forward into the pocket when he can and instead keep going back and actually is causing himself to get sacked (making the O-line look like it's their fault but it's not).
4. Other issues with Young are noted in this short vid.
Another video showed him / his eyes looking down at the pass rush instead of up at his receivers.
