I am thinking all these Adderall abusers got their goods from one source.

Who on the team is prescribed Adderall and would likely vend it out to his teammates?

I am wondering if his drug test failure happened mid-season and can account for is drop in production. Even it if wasn't it was still stupid to take them, and as people have said it is making this team look like a bunch of cheaters. Time for the team leaders and Carroll to come out and tell them to stop the nonsense.

Questioning the organization is an absurd overreaction.

Why is it? Five suspensions in two years is not acceptable. The people running the team need to get some control here.

I don't understand why the number of seahawks suspended for this offense really matters. Other than browner, the players are fringe guys, doing what they can to even make the team. It is happening on our team just like every single other team in the NFL. Our guys are just dumb and cant pass a test. Cross reference this news with wonderlic scores. Irvin probably had a 2. Moffitt, maybe 5 haha.

We all know it is not just adderall. I guess I dont really think of it as cheating, either. because of sheer prevalence, but also, as long as players are still allowed to freely use HGH, the banned substances crap is just that, crap.

Good thing we signed a ton of DEs in the off season.....

I really hope our run Defense doesnt look like it did in the Atlanta game if Clems is also gone.

I think our run defense (especially at the start of the season), with a healthy Mebane and Red and new additions will be just fine.
Agreed. People seem to forget we were leading the league in run D to start the season, before Red's plantar fasciitis happened. We were allowing only 66 ypg on the ground heading into the Patriots game.

These guys know what is legal and what is not.

This is an boneheaded move by a guy that has made boneheaded moves in the past.

Hmmm. Great, now all we need is a guy who can kill the power to the stadium whenever our team gets behind. :)

Some in here seem to be OK with all of this. You must be lost. One poster commented that Irvin was "just trying to gain a competitive edge". Oh, is that all he was doing? How do you justify that...because he's a Hawk? It's CHEATING. Irvin's actions were reckless, rediculous and there's nothing OK about it. Vent over.

I say "just trying to gain an edge" for anyone caught regardless of team.

Geez, just do HGH like the rest of the league.

Seriously though, Carroll HAS to do something about this. You would think it would have been nipped in the bud after what happened last year. I'm not going to beat him up too much over it yet, but it does show a lack of control. He has to take a hard line on this one. None of this "you made a mistake and you have to learn from it" stuff. If he gives that kind of speech to the team, we're going to see much more of this.

I'm disappointed in the team as well as Irvin. It's highly discouraging as a fan that the organization can't at least keep up appearances.

But for Irvin this is even a bigger bonehead move. He was already on the edge of being shuffled down the roster at the LEO position, and now he gives Avril first call on locking the position down. I would think any edge he gets from PEDs is not worth that risk. Now he's really behind the 8 ball. What happens is all on him.

This is a disturbing trend and I agree with those who would like answers from the organization.

If the suspension is for the 1st 4 weeks of reg season, why can't he participate in the pre-season? (I ask because a previous poster said he will only be able to practice with the team). Irvin needs all the reps he can get (and then some), I am hopeful he can play in the 2nd halves of our pre-season games... as in AFTER we pull our STARTERS (which he is no longer).

He can play in the preseason.

The defensive end is eligible to participate in all offseason and preseason activities, practices and games and will be eligible to return from his suspension on September 30

This is crap!!! I think Pete needs to lay down the law and say next person to fail a drug test this year is off the team. This is getting beyond rediculous now, we are looking like a bunch of cheaters! Edit... I realize this might be harsh and perhaps unrealistic depending on the player but something needs to get through to these guys.

Why would this come out now? Be curious on the timing of it.

It is really going to bother me when a 49er fans calls us cheaters after we beat them, idk if I will be able to mentally get over it.

Just like those Patriot fans aren't too worried about the Belicheat moniker. But down deep, it bugs them. Folks like Faulk and others still wondering if their SB was legit. But you are right, who cares. Just Win Baby, our new motto stolen from the Raiders.

"If you aren't cheating, you aren't trying!"

Let's slow down a little with demonizing Irvin. Dumb mistake, sure, but he'll be four games fresher, pass rush isn't a weakness, and it allows us to get an extended look at our new guys right off the bat.

I have a really tough time getting up in arms about Adderall. The suspension is a big hit for the team, sure, but I had a prescription to the stuff in college and I was 160 pounds soaking wet back then. It's a dumb mistake, but it's not like he was suspended for roids or getting arrested for driving 120 miles at 4 in the morning. No reason to call his character into question.

It's not a mistake when you know it's banned and that they are looking for it. He knew this and still took it. It's a mind set not a mistake. As for you taking it, it was prescribed so it was legal for Irvin it's not legal and he took it anyway. Not a mistake but a disregard of responsibility to your team. Any player that tries to take that stuff is a dumbass and there are far smarter people looking for them.
