Let's imagine the NFL with an "amnesty clause" in its CBA like the NBA had in the 2005 and 2011 CBAs.

How many people here think that the Bengals or Chargers would want to use it to get out of their contracts with Burrow and Herbert right now?

Now... how many think the Broncos wouldn't be moving at the first opportunity to get out from under the stupid, stupid extension they gave Wilson before he'd ever played a down for them?

Sure, any big contract can end up being a disappointment, but if you had to bet right now on one of those three teams (Bengals, Broncos, Chargers) bitterly regretting its big recent QB contract extension, which one would it be? There's a very obvious choice here.

Burrow's just hitting the age at which athletic performance peaks, and he's the kind of pocket passer who can remain good for years after his athletic peak. Herbert is also a good QB and he's still on the upward-sloping part of the aging curve. Wilson was terrible in 2022 and is at an age at which a precipitous drop in performance, even from his current bottom-half-of-the-league level, wouldn't be shocking.

I remember after Russ was drafted, Charlie Casserly said something to the effect that Russell was a limited quarterback. Many of us took umbrage with that comment. I don’t think much of Mr. Casserly, but in retrospect I’m wondering if he actually was right.

As a GM of 20+ years, I would think he watched more films than most of us. At this point, I would assume the biggest problem with Wilson was his football IQ and decision making. His shortcomings were masked behind PeteBall, and his athleticism. Since last year, the combination of no Pete, a step or two slower, his inflated ego, and how Pete needled his fragile psyche, must negatively affected his game.

Not a scorned ex thing. It's just delicious to watch the drama going on in Denver for YET ANOTHER SEASON. Like watching a sequel to National Lampoon's Vacation. One can hope this season will be a good as Lampoon's "Christmas Vacation" was.

The NFL is so tough and brutal and success is hard to come by, so we have to enjoy the failure of other teams and the misery of their fan base. That is the way of the world.

Now, if the football gods would deign to let the 49ers fail, I would gladly trade that for the Broncos' misery.

The only team I'm rooting for besides the Seahawks is the Cards when they're not playing the Hawks because I don't want them to get the first pick in next year's draft.

Am just enjoying the continued validation that between letting RW or PC go (not that the latter was even considered, necessarily, but it's the point of the matter as many wondered aloud if it was time for PC to go), it is unquestionable that the correct choice was made.

I actually think a player.. maybe lynch or someone really said that. it was an interview quite a bit ago, but I specifically remember they were like, “he’d get the play in, then give some motivational speech, and then call the play”
