How is it a "sting" when all they did was check the balls at half time? A sting is when someone is deliberately tempted into committing a crime and then punished for it. Like leaving the keys in a car to catch car thieves, or setting up a fake deer to catch poachers. They're led to the crime they commit. The league doing a spot check of footballs during a game isn't a sting.

Go to any pats forums and read their conspiracy theorys. It's quite entertaining. 95% of the pats fans on the sites I visited echo the talking points of NWpatsfan or WORSE. I always thought that most pats fans were pretty level headed, looks like a wiffed bad on that assessment. No I take them just fine, just thought it was really funny seeing a Hawk fan criticize another fan base because of their conspiracy theories. "We lost to the Steelers cause of the refs", "the league is out to get us with all the 10am starts", etc., etc., etc.. Pot meet kettle.

Well, the Seahawks have been to three, now, and the two losses are both clouded over with strong evidence of collusion/incompetence by officials, and now outright cheating, if not in the game itself, on the road to get there.

Yeah, we have some conspiracy nuts here, but I think they're not all that crazy.

Sad part is to some degree it will be swept under the rug. New rules will be put in place and the NFL will tell us it's buisiness as usual. To be fair I didn't like how the Seahawks were mugging receivers 2 years ago. The basically challenged the refs to slow down the game with penalties and they clearly benefited from it. It may not rank on the same scale as deflategate but in the end there are plenty of people and organisations that will do whatever it takes to get an edge. I am just disapointed that the NFL and a portion of the fans don't seem to give a crap about the integrity of the game. Please don't think I am saying that my Niners arn't without their fair share such as manipulation of the salary cap ect.

I think you are generally one of the better 9'ers posters here, but your sentences 2 thru 4 are kind of silly IMHO. 8)

Bad example, because about 97% of the non-Stealer-loving world agrees with that assessment of Super Bowl XL.

What I poorly tried to get across is the NFL has enough money to hire someone to close perceived loopholes in rules, see Ravens vs Patriots last year, and have a better system, such as fixed cameras in the red zone to eliviate much of the headaches. Personally I think they should promote Belicheat. Hire the man to the league office to sniff out weaknesses in policy and the rulebook. Otherwise they are condoning stretching rules beyond the intended boundaries With nothing more than a slap on the wrist. As much as this is a black eye for the Patriots they still got their ring and trophy didn't they...

Solid points. Not sure I agree with promoting the cheating Billicheat, but I see the angle you are coming from. You are dead on from the technology standpoint. There is no reason the NFL cannot go with more goal line and boundary cameras.

Promoting Belicheat to do just that could be a great thing. Just like in the movie "Catch Me If You Can" the guy was caught committing fraud and was one of if not the best at it in the world at the time. Instead of a heavy jail sentence he helped American make fraud detection and prevention become stronger and Belicheat could fit the role perfectly.

If this goes unpunished and nothing happens to Brady or the Pats, I'm going to lose so much respect for the NFL that I might just be done with it. I hate to say it, but it's true. Teams and players will always push the envelope and sometimes straight out cheat. But when an organization catches them and does nothing than their just as guilty.

It also doesn't help that my son asked me, if TB get's caught and get's to keep his championship, then wasn't it worth it. This is the example that the NFL is sending to our youth and young athlete's.
