Brady is going full Lance Armstrong now.

Well, in fairness, Armstrong only turned to the needle to cheat after he'd had one of his balls removed.

Complete Deflation :)

Why not just put a big * next to the Brady/Belichick era?

I think you have to. And in my mind there already is. That franchise has zero credibility.

4-8 games for Brady are not enough. Suspended indefinitely or permanently would be appropriate.

Sting operation ??
WTF, the NFL said, upfront, that they would be doing an investigation.

The sting operation reference was checking the inflation of the balls at halftime. It's not normally done, and the Patriots didn't know it was going to happen, but the Colts knew about it.

The funny thing (to me) is that he's basically saying that it's unfair because the Patriots didn't know the air pressure was going to be inspected but the opposition did, so in a way he's saying they were set up.

My only response to this is....if you aren't cheating you don't need advance warning.

I don't understand how they can call it a sting, from what I understand they only checked the balls at halftime because the Pats ball that the Colts got their hands on with the pick was reported to the officials to be underinflated, THEN they checked the others at halftime. If that ball the Colts got had been inflated properly they may never have checked the others.

Thanks for the "sting" clarification Kid.

No telling how long this has been going on and how many games may have been effected.

Those fingers must be monstrous to miss the 'd' and hit the 'p' by mistake

The agent means why not tell the Patriots before the game started that they were going to check the balls at halftime because the Colts complained.

Which is even more ridiculous, and as Tim Hasselbeck said on Mike and Mike this morning, players and coaches complain to the refs prior to games all the time about in game stuff going on.

"Hey ref, that QB likes to bob his head hard on 3rd down and short, watch for that."

"Hey ref, last time we played in NY our sideline mics kept going out, so watch for that."

Lots of complaining, so it's not rare that the Colts told the refs ahead of time to watch for something that the refs didn't need to notify the Patriots about before or during the game.

I was of the understanding that the Colts had gone to the NFL itself. Either way though it doesn't matter. The NFL doesn't need to tell the Patriots "hey we're going to check the ball pressure so don't cheat today". That is a ridiculous assumption on their part if they expected that type of treatment. Brady's agent is trying to spin this any which way he can, but there's no way to spin him out of this trouble.

That's where I'm at.

We can debate all day whether inflated or deflated balls helps a team win, but there's no debating Brady lying and trying to cover up the whole thing.

That's the transgression IMO worthy of a suspension..........and if Goodell is being consistent with how he punished Sean Payton for Bountygate even though Payton said he no knowledge of it, Belicheat should also be punished for lack of institutional control.

Let me ask this, do y'all think that stripping Brady of HOF eligibility is fair or unfair?
I personally think it's the definitive punishment.
I agree. All this "but even if he did, he's still one of the greatest ever" is ridiculous. I just heard Mike Sando saying that, and he's someone I respect thoroughly. It makes me wonder if Mike and others really understand how long it's been happening and how impactful this is.

To that point, good post SoCalSeahawk. Right there with ya.

Same here WTF? I believe he has been cheating since 07. Plus the it doesn't make that big of an impact? Really? When I was younger I could not dunk a fully inflated basketball, because I could not palm it, under inflate it and I could palm it and dunk. It is all about control, with a qb's hands velocity and accuracy because of hand control. Don't piss on me and tell me its raining :141847_bnono:

Oh make sure you tell that Murderer that you have under suspicion that you’re going to search his house car and interview witnesses and give him the names of them before you launch an investigation.

Or tell that Corporation that were going to want access to all your records and books and emails here in about a month because were going to audit you for falsifying your profits and insider trading.

Yep they should have been told that they were going to be looked at for things like those tow cases above :)

NFL says all forms of player punishment are on the table for Tom Brady. They are 'considering' a suspension as high as one year.

http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-foo ... o-one-year

After hearing that, I think the Pats homers who were hoping for a slap on the wrist should start to wake up. Seems inevitable that Brady gets a suspension of some kind at this point.

I'm upping my guess to 8 games.

The more I think about this, the more I think the NFL has to drop the hammer here. NCAA/NFL have levied significant punishments on coaches and players who have simply made careless mistakes and had general oversights. This was an ongoing and conscious scheme to break the rules; rules that Brady was obviously fully aware of.

There is no plausible ignorance defense here. I think up to a year is reasonable. Anything below 4 games would be travesty.

Brady at some event tonight, dodging questions to the report

Not really worth watching, but I felt like it might be worth it later when he's suspended for however long they give him.

That's a silly argument from Sando. Barry Bonds would've put up HOF numbers and been one of the greatest ever even without steroids, yet no one is making this argument in his favor.

Well now we know how a 6th round pick was successful, take that to the Pats board Gunslinger.
