Reach out and hug a quarterback. What else could Mafe have done there?
You know to be fair, we don't know how far away Baker was there (the whole depth-perception thing watching from a birds-eye view of the camera) but damn it....it looked like Baker was RIGHT THERE for him to at least raise his hands to try and grab him.Baker felt him, stepped up, Mafe lost leverage. Meh, it happens.
It's not like Chris Jones who literally gave up the play on Lawrence's game-winning rush TD.
Now THAT would have made me lose my shit.

He didn't collapse anything.I don’t know you guys, it looks like Mayfield just did a good job of stepping up in the pocket and had an open lane to move forward. What else could Mafe have done there? He did his assignment and collapsed the pocket from the right.
I couldn’t disagree more. Mafe beat the right tackle with ease, forcing Mayfield to speed up so he had to step up there. Like you said to Aros, the angle and depth perception can be a bit misleading from this angle were shown. He didn't collapse anything.
The Pocket collapsed on its own without him.
He broke free from his man and had a straight bee-line toward Mayfield and you're going to tell me that Baker took a SINGLE STEP forward (that's what he did) and Mafe couldn't have side-stepped INTO him to tackle him or attempt to?
He couldn't anticipate Baker stepping forward and therefore he (Mafe) changing a bit of his direction toward where Baker would go?
It's stuff like this that probably drove MacDonald crazy as I'm sure he'd be showing this in the film room.
It's one thing to play Bad D but it's another thing to not show any EFFORT in playing D.
Oh I am.I couldn’t disagree more. Mafe beat the right tackle with ease, forcing Mayfield to speed up so he had to step up there. Like you said to Aros, the angle and depth perception can be a bit misleading from this angle were shown.
If he could’ve made the play, he would’ve. He’s not Gumby, he can’t just contort his body there and do anything other than what he did. If anything, Mafe should be praised for forcing Mayfield to do something other than throwing a presumed completion downfield.
If we’re going to be roasting people for Sunday, go after the lousy corners. Hell, go after Leo Williams for being Mr Invisible this season.
Have you seen the latest Injury report?Mafe is not high on my list of things that are keeping me up at night in regards to our defense right now.
He isn't but with Hall likely to miss this game, need him to step up.Mafe is not high on my list of things that are keeping me up at night in regards to our defense right now.
