Boston Mayor Martin Walsh isn’t exactly bursting with confidence ahead of Sunday’s Super Bowl showdown between his hometown New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks.
Walsh has turned down an offer by Seattle Mayor Ed Murray to make a wager on the game, a spokeswoman said Friday.
“Following two unsuccessful sports bets with other mayors, Mayor Walsh –- a lifelong Patriots fan and season ticket holder –- is foregoing a bet with Seattle for this year’s Super Bowl because he does not want to jinx his beloved Patriots,” spokeswoman Bonnie McGilpin said in a statement.
Murray will instead make a bet with Providence, R.I. Mayor Jorge Elorza. The terms of the wager have yet to be released.
