Pete Carroll has a history of sticking with some very incompetent coordinators.
You find that out later when they get removed, go to another place, or cannot get a job anywhere but Idaho later.
You take the bad with the good, but you still need to fix the bad. There are plenty of coordinators out there that would help us. It would take more than 15 minutes to come up with a reasonable list but if you gave me data, an analysis engine, a budget and a research staff - I am better it would be pretty easy to come up with a short list.
And it isn't like Bevell is some unknown commodity. He is doing the same crap he did in Minnesota.
I really wanted to give the guy chances. We got to the SB WITH him, certainly not BECAUSE of him. But yeah there was some sentiment there. That got used up last year.
When the defense played lights out, we went to the SB. When the defense was giving up yards at a clip, we got knocked out by Atlanta. He has a HOF-Q RB and a QB that has that same trajectory - and the offense is below average. Call it what you will but he is not producing.
Look at three numbers:
% success rate on drives
% success rate per attempt at first down
% TD success rate in RZ
Contrast those to league averages
Then look at:
TD per possession
Yards per score (or normalize to field position)
THEN tell me we have even an average offense?
Finally contrast the offense #s vs the individual ratings of offensive players (notably skill players). Based on how effective you believe Lynch, Wilson, Graham, Baldwin, Lockett & Kearse* are, should we be scoring more?
I will wait. We have a few games for this to shake out or Bevell to pull his head out of his *ss.
