(also the Cardinals, but who cares about those chumpstains?)

Skip to about 30:00 to get to the Seahawks part.

I have to be honest: I appreciate that Bill Barnwell uses advanced metrics to evaluate players and teams, and I am not saying that he is always wrong or anything like that, but there is not a guy that I consistently disagree with more, particularly when it comes to personnel choices.

In this interview, he says that Greg Jennings + our 2013 first round pick > Percy Harvin.

I am not distorting this at all.

Just totally insane. The idea that Jennings would give us anything in terms of versatility like Harvin does is crazy, and while Barnwell doesn't say this, my assumption is that he thinks Jennings on the outside and Tate inside would make more sense in terms of cost, ignoring that Tate is an outside player.

He also says that we could have gone OG, RT, or DE at #25, but we are DEEP at both OG and RT and there wasn't a pass-rusher at 25 worth taking.

Mays is as incredulous as I was about Barnwell's POV there. Anyway, food for thought if y'all are interested.

Jennings plus our 1st is a tempting thought in hindsight.

In reality though, Jennings is not any less of an injury risk than Harvin over the last few years, and it actually creates a logjam with Jennings, Rice, and Tate all needing to play outside.

When healthy, Harvin is a much better player than Jennings at this point in their careers. He only has a real argument in hindsight with Harvin hurt.

I think for Minnesota Jennings + the 1st rounder is better but for Seattle it is not. Jennings doesn't give you anything that the current crop of WR's for Seahawks don't already give you. He is a possession receiver.

Agree. Also, I don't think we're deep at OG or RT talent wise and barely personal wise, but that is probably due more to the versatility of the lineman than the actual amount of depth. I think OG and RT are two of the biggest concerns outside of the DL.

Just depends on who we get with that 1st rounder. In some cases, it would obviously be true, but we will have to see how guys we may have drafted at that spot do in their first season.

If you're talking about pure value, then yes Jennings + keeping our 1st round pick is more valuable than Harvin.

But that's not all that matters when you're looking at players and/or transactions;

- Team fit
- Scheme fit
- Need
- Attitude

Jennings is a good receiver still, some might say great. But he wouldn't be a good fit here for what we're trying to do. Other than Harvin's perceived moody personality, he hits all the boxes as to what Pete and John are trying to do on offense and special teams.
