Bengals have to draft a new QB right?

I'm curious how you guys saying they should replace Dalton felt about Hasselbeck since he was a similarly good but not great kind of franchise QB. Yeah, Hass did better in the playoffs than Dalton has, but he also had a lot more time to experience growing pains before fan expectations came closer to their usual levels of outrageous like they are with the knee-jerking Bengal fans who are calling for a new QB immediately.

They'll probably do the easy thing and get rid of the coach instead of Dalton.

That is not always the wrong answer

Rivers prior to Norv Turner - very good, after also very good, during - not so good

Alex Smith prior to Harbaugh.....

There are other examples where it was about coaching and creating the right system for that qb. Not saying this will fix everything for Cuncy or that Dalton is great (haven't watched him enough) but sometimes it is absolute about coaching

Should they get rid of Dalton? No. Should they provide him with some competition? Yes.

History suggests two things.
1. The Bengals would still have Carson Palmer if he hadn't refused to show up one day. They don't let go. Brown got his playoff gate for one game, he is plenty happy.

2. Plenty of really good quarterbacks have been even farther into their careers than Dalton before they got over the playoff hump.

You can't fire a QB after an 11 win season, I don't care if he hasn't won a playoff game in 3 years. At least he made the playoffs in each of his three years in the league. No other QB can say that right now.

Also don't forget that dalton didn't fumble the ball at the goalline when the score was 7-7...

He did fumble the ball right after sliding short of a first down though...and threw some Romo-esque INT's
